We have a rear mounted cycle carrier bought from Halfords. It's OK for carrying up to 3 regular bikes but not ideal if you are putting your prized bike on it (hence why we upgraded to cycle carrier on top of the car). If it can be of use to you then it is yours for free as long as you can collect it. I can even fit it onto your car if you like!

Hey Martyn,

I could be keen, was looking to get the roof rack and fittings sorted out for the car very soon for the weekends away. Would it or does it fit onto an estate car ( Audi A4) ? Sturdy ? or could I loose Thomas The Trek Racer on the motorway ? let me know the model and Ill look online or in store at some point.

Cheers

Hi Martyn, I wouldn't mind having a look at this, as there is 3 of us doing a trip to the south of France next month for some training, in case Paul decides not to take it off your hands... Will PM you. Thanks!

Raya

Hey Raya,

You can take first dibs on Martyns Bike rack, if you want it. I can always buy one from Halfords & it sounds like you need the bike rack quicker than me for your trip to the South of France. Yes I am jealous :)

Cheers

Hi Raya and Paul,

I tried to find the carrier on the Halfords website but it does not seem to be there any more. The nearest I could see was this: http://www.halfords.com/cycling/accessories/cycle-carriers-bike-rac....  The rack is secure and it is unlikely to let your bike(s) drop off. However, with 3 bikes there will be a degree of bikes coming into contact with each other which could be an issue of you are taking expensive bikes around.

It is going to the tip if no one wants it (our shed needs more room for our other bike kit!) so feel free to give it a go and no worries if it does not work out for you.
