I believe other clubs make us of it  but I'm not sure Windrush is very aware of the 3-lap RP challenge. It's basically a Strava segment beginning at Roehampton Gate and going anti-clockwise (otherwise Strava wouldn't twig it, and smoother at roundabouts).

I mention it now because Sam smashed the Windrush record this morning by 4 minutes and may not be aware of it. Anyway, maybe something to use as a training aid.

This should be the link to the Windie list, there is also an all-comers list somewhere:

It's a simple legal position, authorities have no way to prove the person recording the data around RP is the same person in whose name the account is registered. Some might draw a parallel with points for speeding in a car and politicians.

I too was worried about some of the reckless speeds recorded at Tri Camp - at times, very comfortably in excess of 60kph.

Trying to break 60 minutes is asking for trouble as

A you will have to speed
B it is a park and horse riders and children cross the road
C car drivers can stop without warning to admire the deer
D there are loads of cyclists who are too slow, too fast or simply don't look
E some of you might remember a pro triathlete called Tristram - he was a very good rider, very experienced and even he managed an accident with a deer
F the police will probably warn you the first time and then it will be a fine and points on your driving licence - yes they can do that
G it is a park and we don't want to give cycling a bad name do we?
So how about we enter some kosher time trials

The most dangerous part of this challenge is get to RP.

Your more likely to have an accident on the way to work.

I have a few rules when I do TT's in RP.

Not take unnecessary risks. You don't get a 2nd chance.

Don't undertake cars.

Don't overtake with on coming traffic

Give way at roundabouts.

Slow down for deer. It's there park.

Don't wear club kit.

If your one of the unlucky people to be wave down by the police. Have a good story. I'm Mick Johnson from Australia. Do bikes have speedometers?

All great advice. I was actually musing on the way back earlier that it's such a shame you have 12k each way of London traffic.

As a new convert to cycling there at dusk with the cars gone and on a warm summer evening I have to say again how stunning it is. I'll think differently when summer fades but right now ... it's a thing of beauty.

I had a crack at this earlier, and certainly didn't break the speed limit 'on average'! And also way off breaking the hour mark - but certainly something to aim for and a good training aid for sure (minus the club kit!)

Thanks for pointing this our Andy!

Sage advice, Tony.
