Kit - again, sorry

To the people who made it happen , well done for getting Windrush kitted out for crystal palace. It's important that the club is seen and seen to be well run. You can see from the response from club members that they are proud wind rushers and you have served the club well.


I'm interested in other kit. I don't have any kit I can run in and I would like to represent my club. I have t shirts but they are large across and short up and down. I appreciate that I am a taller than average man but we have a few taller than average members.

Are there plans to get in more general kit?

(No I don't want to borrow kit or buy second hand kit, but thanks)

Hi David,

Yes, the plan after this run is over is for us to look at getting other items of club kit.  We had a few issues with a supplier promising sample items and not delivering.  With time running out and the Palace Tri fast approaching, we took the decision to change supplier to get something out, hence the limited run this time around.

I look forward to the next iteration of kit.

I have no comment on individual vs bulk orders. Execution is what matters above theory and I am not someone who has volunteered to execute so I will not comment on those who do.

Paul,

You're spin on this is more than a little miss-leading. 

The Committee has spent a lot of their time on the redesign of the kit making it less revealing and more flattering.   We are dependent on the word of suppliers to deliver on their promise to supply samples (the first contact being made in January), which we then make our plans on.  However, their delays have an impact on us and have impacted us.  Rob (who by the way is on the committee) had the capacity to take this issue on.  The 'failing', as you put it, on this was to put trust in a supplier.

Maybe Dave could look into t-shirts and running vests especially for taller people? Blade have a good catalogue of stuff and are fast to send out samples and print stuff. There must be other companies that print logos onto kit for tall people like basketball teams... this would then reduce the load on whoever is now in charge of kit. The current t-shirts work well for a lot of people, just not tall ones!

Forgive me if I have missed this on the website, but I would love to order some Windrush T-shirts. I have some from the Aquathon but no actual Windrush branded ones.

I did some research and scimitar can produce longer t shirts and running vests at a small premium.

Sorry if this treads on your toes, just finding out some info for you. The reason I don't wear club kit is that it simply does not fit me.

Do we have rough milestone when we would like to have new kit? I know we have to deal with busy suppliers and surprises but summer is coming.

Hey Dave, it won't be tri tops but we're going to be putting an order through for the black logo tees this week.  I'm making sure that length is a key detail!  Shane, I think this is the tees you're interested in?

In terms of Scimitar, that sounds interesting...maybe we can have a more in depth conversation about what you found out.  The aim will be to get club race kit asap however it's unfortunately not going to be pre-London marathon!  Sorry :-(

Hi Nicky. I'm not in a specific hurry but I would like the club to try and order specifically long tops if they can. The stuff I spend money on (in all previous sports clubs not Windrush specifically) does not fit. I think it's reasonable that I can spend my money on kit which does. Happy to share my conversations with scimitar. They can do specifically off plan longer kit.

We can simply order some long and some not long as a stock order.
