A small group of us are signed up to the Olympic Bewl tri... so thought I'd put the word out there and see who else wants to join us or is already signed up. Be great to get a good team of us there.

Selling points

- it's local so no long journeys getting stuck in traffic
- you get a medal!!
- the swim is in the reservoir so looks nice and pretty
- be a great warm up race for Sussex for anyone who's signed up to that
- it's on the Sunday so if we want to we can travel the night before and camp (campsite on site so nice and easy)
Neil and Caroline - one for you?!!! :-D. If not you may be a convenient cup of tea stop over afterwards!!!

Let us know if you're keen and we can chat about accomm / transport etc.

I can drive down evening before.

Got a big enough car for 2 or 3 people + some extra luggage for others perhaps.

Hi guys,

So I now only have me Saffron and Rachel in my car... and I'm hoping I might be able to borrow a bike rack from Len, but I need to check it will fit on my car. Apparently that only takes 2 bikes though... which means, I might need alternative travel means for the third bike!

In terms of numbers, if I've not missed anyone we have...

- Lisa
- Saffron
- Rachel
- Rob
- Tom
- Milen
- Gesine

(Ed - I'm assuming you and Anna will be self sufficient? If Anna needs transport let us know).

So 7 in total. If there's another bike rack out there we could use we might be able to squeeze people in our two cars? Or if anyone else has a car that might solve things!  Otherwise a couple of people could get the train if the cars take the luggage? Might be cheaper than hiring a van?

Saffron - how much was it to hire a van for the night / day?

Lisa

 I had a quick check

A return ticket to Tunbridge wells is £22.30 and a van between £50-80 (with out fuel). So the van option makes only sense if more than 2 need to travel by rail, better 4.

As it stands, I don't think van makes sense. If Tom is willing to drive and Rob and I take the train, this should work : )

I have just signed up to the race, sorry for the late addition.

I have a bike rack but unfortunately no car. Speaking to Tom last night at training we were thinking of putting this on the back of his car and gear in the back, if he's still happy to do so...

Nice one!

I agree with Gensine - I think it would be well over £50+ each to hire something for that weekend.

My cars quite big, so I can squeeze 2 others in and 3or4 bikes + luggage for the others. I know it's unfair for others who have to get the train, so let me know if you want a space. I've offered Andy a lift in exchange for using his bike rack.

Also I can pick people up from Tunbridge Wells station after I've dropped people off at Bewl.

Great that we have a few cars that can help for this. Am I right in thinking we now have 8 people going down (including Andy) and in terms of cars, we have:

Lisa: (3 people, 2 bikes) and Tom (3 people, 3/4 bikes) and Gesine? Tom, if you're confident of getting 4 bikes on/in your car with 2 people, then it might all work out if Gesine can take 1 other person and 2 bikes.

But you three will be the best judge of how many people/bikes you can bring, so I'll leave it to you to let us know if this sounds reasonable as a plan!

Hi Rob et Al

Just to clarify, we had established it is not worth hiring a car or van (I don't have one myself) but I'm willing to cycle to take the train to Tunbridge Wells and then cycle, if there is no space for me or bike in a car. I would depend on someone taking my luggage though.

so no, I can't take another person and 2 bikes : )

OK, I'm a super-latecomer, but I have signed up for this too.

I have a car and can take four bikes on the roof racks, mine plus three others, and up to three others in the car with their kit. So I can take you Gesine and one or two others if need be.

I also have a rear mount bike rack if anyone needs to borrow it.

I'll be heading down Sat pm and camping.

Ohh, could I get a lift with you then? Bike and owner are room trained : )

Ah sorry. For some reason I read your message as you had your own car and could drive. No worries. Charles has come to the rescue! Thanks Charles!

That's good news. If Charles could take Gesine and Rob, I could take Andy and Milen - then that'll be sorted.

Charles, what time were you thinking of leaving roughly? We could all meet up at the lido at 3.30/4pm or something. Drive down in convoy. Also, Lisa mentioned that she might need one of us to take an extra bike - would you be able to?

Have I missed anyone out? Does anyone know if Paul Warren entered?

For those that don't know it's £10 to camp. http://www.bewltriathlon.co.uk/assets/bewlraceinfo2016.pdf

Bike course looks a bit hilly - Looking forward to it!

Hi Tom,

yes that is fine. Let's meet at the lido at 3:30pm to load up; we should get down there around 5pm.

Yes I can take Gesine and Rob, plus an extra bike if need be.
