Having just watched The Crown on Netflix over Christmas I seem to be drawn to Windsor as if by some mystical royal forcefield ... or maybe it is just the lure of the famous iced buns at the cafe!

Planning a steady ride to Windsor on Sunday, leaving the lido at 9am, going via Hampton Court, Virginia Water and Windsor Great Park, returning via Runnymede and Staines (circa 110km round trip). If anyone wants to bump up the mileage we could do a loop of the Windsor tri course when we get there, but this may be too much of a good thing in early January.

Let me know if you want to come along.

Thanks for organising Charles and glad we managed to catch you all at the coffee shop.

I'm sure its a very nice route on a good day!

Yes thanks Charles and everyone, for the introduction to those AMAZING cinnamon buns! If they are on offer I would happily ride anywhere, whatever the weather :-)

Any news on my Royal Crockery Mr Barclay?

Thanks Charles, and everybody else, good company and good humor despite a good soaking.

Well that was the wettest Sunday ride I've had in a long time, but great company and great cinnamon buns made it all worthwhile. Here are some pics including Ellie imitating a boa constrictor to get the bun in to her mouth in one go and Katherine and Tom drying their gloves under the terrace heaters.

Great ride team.

Nearly double my previous best (60km)

Had my first bike for a couple of months now and slowly getting there. Onwards and upwards!

Thanks for welcoming me!

And yet in Windsor there was a Limited Edition Diamond Jubilee cake plate for sale at £395!! And which could have been purchased to repeat for an excellent value £395 if you all had not been so focussed on simply eating cake

Charles a possible ride to Royal Tunbridge Wells could combine regal crockery, acquaintance with the fox hunting fraternity, abundant Daily Telegraph supplies and more opportunity to enjoy British winter rain now that we have turned our backs on drier European weather?

Great idea Tony. As it happens, I need to stock up on new Royal crockery; my Kate and Wills wedding mug is getting a bit worn!

Great stuff Alex. If you can manage Windsor on a day like yesterday, riding to Brighton in spring sunshine will seem like a doddle.

I'm in! Need a team effort to get me back out on the bike in this cold and damp January!

Opps, this was last Sunday - in the rain! - I imagine there will be interest in a ride this week though. :-)
