*Parkrun Windrush Takeover!* Sat. 15th April

Hi everyone,

A big shout out to all of our 20+ volunteers and cake bakers involved with our first ever Windrush parkrun Takeover! 

The post-parkrun social had great feedback too and was brilliantly organised by Saffron Pinegar, Windrush Social Secretary, with music, around 8 varieties of cake and eventually, a bit of sunshine!

Though it was quite chilly, parkrunners and new members came and shared our tea and cake, and asked a lot about Windrush which was a great opportunity to share what we do and have a bit of a mingle!

Due to the positive feedback, we will be organising another Windrush parkrun takeover and social combo this summer.  More to follow...

For those who missed the first post...we are hosting a very special parkrun Windrush takeover at Brockwell Park…this is when a club/group provides the volunteers for one of the parkrun sessions ... great to do something for the local community and meet some of your club members.

A big shout out to everyone who has signed up already!  We are getting close to a full Windrush team ..however there are 6 more volunteers spots remaining to sign up for:


3 x marshals - the BMX track is getting refurbished so we now need 1 more marshal than originally thought
1 (or more) x Post event close down (doesn't take long) - putting the flags and poles away in the lido cupboard essentially.
1 x token sorting
1 x timekeeper (there will be a back up timekeeper too)

For all of the above, you will get a full brief and support.  Please pop your name down on the shared document or on this thread.  Do reach out if you have any questions at all.

Hi everyone, please check out the update.  thanks!

Hey all, just a reminder about our Easter social picnic to celebrate our Parkrun takeover on Saturday from 9.45 by the finish line. Come along and let's make sure everyone feels the Windrush in Brockwell Park this Easter. We have some fabulous volunteer bakers and we'll be providing as much tea and coffee as I can carry - it's a caring sharing picnic so it would be wonderful if you could bring any of the following so we have enough to go round:

  • Picnic blankets
  • Thermoses for me to refill with hot water (kick us off by filling it with a nice drink first time round though!)
  • Cakes and snacks
  • Any drinks you fancy (Prosecco anyone? :)
  • Easter eggs for me (kidding!)

Get ready to have an egg-cellent time...
