Beginners bike ride Sunday 23 April out by train into Surrey/Kent countryside
The weather seems to be getting more reliable now and the latest stage of Haren's scientifically calibrated training plan for Crystal Palace triathlon involves a Sunday morning bike ride out in beautiful Kent.
Our plan is to meet up at Clapham Junction station at 9am to catch a train out to Hurst Green before a 50k or so loop taking in Tandridge, Crowhurst, Lingfield, Edenbridge, Hever then round back to Hurst Green before salad and coffee then either train back or ride back if keen.
As this is the first longish tandem ride, our pace will be steady but there are also enough challenges on this route to build/test fitness. This is an ideal route if you are new to cycling so all are welcome to join us.

Weather now looking good for Sunday - light wind, no rain and not too warm
Having considered the 10k run and swim we're still planning to take the bike out from Clapham Junction at 9am to Hirst Green for about a couple of hours ride round Surrey and Kent countryside.
Anyone welcome to join and pace will be steady so definitely suit beginner looking for experience or new routes.

Yep very much still going - we are going to meet on the overhead walkway in Clapham Junxtion station by the coffee bar at 9am.
I know it's daft putting my number on here but ... my name knee is 0794 6655736
Should be a good day to get out of London on a bike (without killing your self keeping up with Charles on a round trip to Brighton)

Thanks Adele that was fun and we were both impressed with how you coped with defective MTB pedals cycling up Toys and Starr hills (faster than us)
It might, though, be worth mentioning that Balfe's bikes trumps any hipster coffee/bike boutiques in Camberwell - hipster shops are strictly for Art students who aren't cycling seriously ;-)
