Beginners bieke - please let me know if you're interested in attending

Hi all,

Just checking if there's still interest in the beginners bike sessions that I hope to arrange this month.

There's 2 potential options, both will include group riding skills, bike handling skills, cornering and descending, plus FAQs.

The first option is in Brockwell Park. The advantage is it's closer and you dont have to worry about the ride out /back, but obviously the hills are a bit more limited and we have to give way to other park users. I'd suggest 7-8pm so the park isnt too busy but its still light.

The second option is Richmond Park, we'd meet at the Lido (or you can meet us there), cycle out (on a back route if people prefer to avoid main roads) and then work on skills. Then ride back (if you want to stay on a do laps you're welcome but it will getting dark by then). I'd suggest meeting at 6.30 at the Lido so we can be there by 7ish.

These sessions will only go ahead if there's enough interest, so please fill in the Doodle below if you'd be interested in attending to say which sessions you could make, if there's enough potential interest then I'll schedule something. And if you're interested but cant make the times then please post below.

Thanks,

Lucy, Head Coach

Hey Lucy, when do you think you'll make a call on this?

Hi Lucy,

I'm interested but I'm not sure if I am classed as a beginner so I don't want to turn up then intimidate other new folks! I have commuted on my bike for 6 years and ride with spd pedals etc comfortably. I think the only thing I don't have experience is riding in a group (well apart from the peloton of cyclists on a Monday morning going into central!) Would I be better off coming along to a regular group ride or do you think the beginner ride will still be appropriate for teaching me the necessary group riding skills? Riding / racing in a group is something completely new to me.

Cheers

So it looks like 16 August is the most popular option so lets go with that. Those who are interested in attending, shout now if you have a preference between brockwell or Richmond Park. I'd suggest Richmond is best, meeting at 6.15 in brockwell for group riding skills practice then ride out/ meet Richmond park at 7 but if that doesn't work for you then shout before Friday 11th when I'll make a final call.

Helena I'd say that everyone can improve their skills but the event will be shaped by those attending. If we go for Richmond park then join for the group riding skills and then you could always just go for a training ride.

I'm afraid I have to work that evening - but thank you for getting back to me :)

Richmond park would be my preference :)
