Assuming the back continues to return towards normal levels of functionality -- am planning to go for a ride Sunday morning starting at 9 from the Lido

Rough plan is to cover at least 60k at a reasonable but not extreme pace. There are a few hills but the views more than compensate.

Route will be suitable for beginners (on non-shopping bikes)and promise I won't drop anybody (ed: that's because you can't now)

I'd be up for this Tony. Will there be a salad stop on the way home?
Kate, the rehab physio, is taking quite a firm line with the cake solution to cycling nutrition I'm afraid.

Not quite as firm as Deborah - who bemoaned the fact that they didn't wire shut my jaw preventing cake intake

See you at 9 on Sunday

And what about Coca-Cola as re-hydration? :

well let's hope she doesn't read this board, but she does do triathlons and is trying to beat her dad this season (who happens to also be in my age group) so there is a risk

I will ask her whether there is any link between using "The Great National Temperance Beverage"* in cycling hydration and possible weight gain

* That was actually the slogan for coca cola in 1906

Cycling without cake.. sad times!! See you on Sunday

well by my rough calculation if we are cycling for 2.5 hours at around 25kph with the new "profile"  that is around 3000 calories

which means I can eat 6 slices of cake each washed down with a can of full fat coke

if you are going to cycle on a empty stomach...

3000 kcal in 2.5hours? Are you towing something to burn that many calories?

yes - am towing a year and a half's supply of cake and coca cola...

Hi Tony,

I'm recovering from an ankle injury, but hopefully if its better on the weekend i'd be keen to come along for the ride if thats ok? Will let you know closer to the weekend!

Sure Fred let us know whether to expect you when you know how the ankle feels

If it's easier for people assuming we leave the Lido at 9am then we should get to Cadence around 9.15
Bumping this as

A weather forecast is good for Sunday

B I need to start getting into gear for Sussex and this ride will be pretty similar in distance and climbing.

Still planning to leave at 9 from the Lido

Sorry Tony my ankle is still not quite recovered enough for tomorrows ride. Its kept me out of training for far too long, need to let it heal properly before Sussex! Have a great ride though
