who else is doing it and in what wave. I'm on the Sunday in the "Fast" wave. will be staying with friends nearby, travelling down Saturday morning. I can probably squeeze one or two in if anyone needs a lift.

Yes! I'm on Sunday and in the fast wave as well. I'll be parking at Dittisham and getting the coach up to the start. Think there are a few people swimming on Sunday.

I'm on the Saturday in the leisurely wave... Planning a very long session at Shepperton this Saturday morning if anyone would like to join me - aiming to get there for 7:30 and see how long I last!

I am in the leisurely wave on Sunday. I have accommodation booked in Totnes with 3 other swimmers, but have not organised travel yet. This is my first time, so welcome any advice on logistics.

Can't make Saturday morning but have a good swim Phoebe.

First time for me as well Margaret but sure someone will be able to help with getting down there.

Thanks Colin, either my sister or I will be driving. Looks like it may be better to park at the finish than the start?

Phoebe - enjoy Shepperton, I have a similar plan at Leybourne Lakes.

Hi Margie (and everyone else), Just to say that if you're staying in Totnes, it might be better to leave the car there (ie at the start) and then get the bus back to Totnes afterwards.  The roads around Dittisham can get a bit snarly (they're pretty narrow!) and if I remember rightly the car park is at the top of a pretty steep hill, which after 3ish hours in the water might be more like a mountain!  I think you're supposed to book coach travel when you enter, but it might be worth checking to see if you can get a place on the bus back afterwards.  I guess it depends also on whether or not you're hanging around or setting off straight after the swim.  Hope that helps and good luck for everyone doing it - I'm feeling a little jealous!  :)

Anna, thanks for the advice!

I stayed in Dartmouth last year - we parked at the finish and got the bus to the start. It was nice to just get in the car and go when we'd finished eating pizza and sitting in the hot tubs, but if I were staying in Totnes I'd definitely do as Anna suggested unless you're in a rush to get away afterwards.

Thanks for the advice Anna. I'm swimming Sunday medium wave and getting train down on Saturday AM. Would be good to meet up after race for some well deserved (hopefully!) drinks. Staying in Totnes

has everyone got a windrush swim hat to wear (I know we probably have to wear the official hat for the swim itself) but it'll make a great pic for the files and make it easy to find each other where we haven't met. I will park at the finish and get the shuttle bus up to the start wearing only my wetsuit !

A photo would be great - maybe with the Windrush flag? Also parking at the finish...but I don't think I'll be wearing my wetsuit on the bus. Looking forward it it!

Belated good luck to those swimming today - see the rest of you tomorrow!
