As most of you know, Parkrun is normally on a Saturday. But some of you may be please/surprised/worried to know that on Christmas morning and New Year's morning lots of parkruns host extra a run as well! So if you're chasing that milestone, or just a bit mad, remember to bring your running kit with you this Christmas!

Brockwell isn't running on Christmas or New Year's, but Peckham, Southwark, Dulwich and Hilly Fields (amongst many others around the UK) are!

Full details on which runs are running and at what time (because they stagger the start times on Christmas and New Years) can be found here

For those really committed people, because of the staggered start times on the 1st Jan, you can register two parkrun results (this isn't available on Christmas day, but you could still run two if you fancy!). Last year I did the double (Peckham and Dulwich) on New Year's day and it was great! I plan on doing both again this year (unless it's torrential!), so for anyone wanting to join for either (Peckham at 9am, Dulwich at 10am) or maybe even brunch somewhere afterwards, come join in!

Parkrun is a national scheme setting up timed 5km runs at parks around the country.

ParkRun completely free and if you want a recorded time all you have to do is signup online before hand at the link below.

www.parkrun.org.uk/Brockwell/

Register on the site, printout a barcode and hand it in at the end if you want official timing.

**Please note this event is not organised and is not coached by the club - but it is a great local event we actively encourage members to take part in**

Thanks Rob

...having the privilege of Run Directing Peckham on Christmas Day, I’m a little concerned when I check the volunteer rota

...especially after last year - when two sub-15 min runners decided to choose Xmas Day to have a crack at our course record

...when we didn’t have enough marshalls and they cut a corner

...so instead of course record they got Xmas  DQs

So don’t try for our course record on Xmas Day ;-)

But if you you want to help or run you’d be most welcome (Santa suits optional)

We will be at Dulwich with the kids in festive attire on Xmas day !

Oh Rob....my god....I'm like the branding police, but it is parkrun. Always with a small p and r. You've used every combination here... it's like maybe you did it on purpose...

I've a quiet night on the sofa so this really got me excited :-)

I assume you'll be doing the double on the 1st then.

And I could have done parkRun to round it off. But I'll save that for nearer the time

You probably don’t know how much fun goes on behind the scenes as to whether the correct branding can be seen, in the correct positions, on social media

Personally, as an old school trouble-maker, I applaud Rob’s initiatives :-)

Could do Dulwich or Peckham ParkRun on NYD  - I live right in the middle of both parks so i'll go to whichever (hangover dependent of course)

as in. I live in between the two parks.

Aww I thought you were living on a park bench - it would be good if we could extend Windrush membership to homeless people - when I lived in a hostel in the 1970s there wasn’t much in the way of exercise facilities to be honest

Doubt it has improved much since then either

I'm tempted by the double, but its pretty early on NYD so I'm a maybe, hangover dependent!

bump bump.

It's nearly that time of year (and then the inevitable weary parkrun)! For those interested in joining, I'm planning on doing Peckham and then Dulwich, probably with tea in Gail's cafe after. If anyone wants to join for any of it (even just cake after) I shall see you there!

Yep Peckham is definitely on at 9am tomorrow - we are economising on signs though so good luck finding your way right round the course;-)

So I was planning to do this but can't find my parkrun barcode and don't have a printer, so unless anyone gets this and is feeling generous enough to print me a copy, I will be running timeless. Going for the double...
