Nominations for the Club Championship Races for 2015 season

Hi all,

At the committee meeting next Monday we are hoping to decide on the club championship races for the 2015 season and would like your input on which races to consider.

Please can you reply to this post by Monday 24th November stating your nominations for both Sprint and Olympic distances races.

Thank you!

Hever was great this year, so we could do it again. Was great that there was so much choice of distances and options for juniors to get involved.

Or for something new, I did Leeds Castle Tri last year. It's a much smaller event (c.250 people last year), but was very friendly. It's easy to drive to on the day; not sure what camping options there might be nearby. Swim is 2 laps in the moat (quite a zig-zaggy course to fit in the distance), bike is fairly flat along a couple of straight A roads (I didn't find the traffic too busy, but is a consideration) and the run is very Hever-esque in the Castle Grounds. Sprint and junior aquathlon on Sat 27 June, Olympic on 28 June (which is the same weekend as Wimbleball, so actually I won't be able to make it!).

Hever all the way!  Don't mind about the sprint.

Hever Olympic for me (it really was ace) and don't mind about the Sprint either.

Thanks Neil

It's worth considering The Huntsman Tri, it's late in the season (15-Oct 2015). So maybe a contender for the full, or an end of season sprint jaunt...

I did the Huntsman sprint this year (its first year). Beautiful lake, lovely run through the woods and flat, and a fast ride too. I think a few wind-rushers might have done the full, don't know what they thought of it?

Though I did the Hever sprint too, and that was great (even if steep in places!)

Have fun choosing.

Hawley Lake - Huntsman Tri

The big advantage of both Hever and Crystal Palace is that they have junior races with lots of places alongside the adult races.

There are lots of other good Olympic races - I liked Portsmouth but I don't think it had a junior race and it is good if we can find races that the whole club can participate in.
Hever and CP are my votes please Neil.

For me - Hever for the Olympic distance and not fussed on the sprint (can't make CP this year). Will be looking to do Leeds Castle as it looks fun.

Assuming early April and late Sept, CP and Hever.

A different castle series race maybe, to mix it up a bit but keep the juniors strength? But time of year of Hever worked well so perhaps just stick with what we know!

CP and Hever work well esp for those new to Olympic as it gives a good run up between the 2. And the Juniors race is certainly well organised. I'm doing my half on July 18th so I'll be looking for a cheeky olympic earlier on as well

I'd go with CP and Hever. Given CP is almost a given as its so close, wonder if its worth thinking about a second sprint later in the season so those who are just getting into Tri (and maybe haven't signed up in time to get into CP) can join in? (sorry Neil!). Or i guess promoting the London League races more could cover that...

The club usually gets 10 special places for newbies at CP as we know it sells out fast. We then hold them back for 2 months or so after general entry has closed to give newbies time to join the club etc.
