So sorry about last week's cancellation - seems like an eventful time was had by all anyway.

However I still really want to do this ride and the forecast doesn't look too bad at the moment (not as warm as Lanzarote where Charles is heading I grant you but do they have oysters there? Not as good as Whitstable's).

The plan is set off 8.30 from the Lido then the route is out to Pilgrims Way following it down to north of Maidstone then swing north to Whitstable via Faversham.

I'll upload the route later. It is around 70 miles but not too hilly plus the scenery is fantastic - even in March.

Saturday or Sunday? I presume there are trains running to get people back to London?
D'oh, just seen the date in the title! I might be up for this.
It is Sunday but at least you check the trains .... So we have to cycle back to Faversham after we eat the oysters as there are no trains on Sunday out of Whitstable

Count me in, but can i meet you at  Cadence (so I can take advantage of an extra half an hour in bed!)? Say at 8:40?

Of course that's ok - so meet either 8.30 at the lido or 8.40 at Cadence

It's a good day for it.

Yay I am early see you at cadence!
Well oysters eaten, cyclo-cross event to Canterbury tacked on the end, Malcolm did half the ride on one brake, only a mile in the motorway this week, Sustrans route needs new signposts, a bottle is available in the Annerley area as Clare destroyed her bottle cage in her own living room before the 80 mile ride.

But the Pilgrims Way is a stunning bike ride on a sunny day.

Just as well there weren't carbon fibre bikes in the middle ages though or Chaucer would have written a much shorter book.
Tony and everyone else thanks for a great days riding. Hope you managed to get your train. Spring is definitely on its way.
Yeah it was awesome! My longest ride ever :)

Well done Clare!

We managed to get the train, although then guard on the platform wasn't very happy that Tony took his time to put his bike on the train to make sure I could finish running down the stairs and get on the train too - he told me we'd made the train late!

Thanks everyone for a great day out.
