Ironman Kalmar Updates

With 9 of our members racing in the Swedish ironman race today it is going to be fun watching the tracker

The good news is nobody drowned in the Baltic but only 11 seconds separated San S in first place from Neil McG in second.

Then in order it is Frank, Laura, Julian,Dave,Sam B, Erika and Steve

53k into the cycling and Sam S has opened up a 17 minute lead on Neil in second place, Frank still third, Dave S has overtaken Julian and Laura with Sam B, Erika and Steve all within 10 minutes of each other.

Sounds like a typical Windrush club ride - wonder if they will be stopping for cake?

Two Swedish guys have practically finished cycling - burning along at 42kph. Must be all them meat balls.

No sign of a cake stop for Sam S or Neil as they pass the 109k point on the cycle leg after 4.22 and 4.49 respectively. Maltese Steve passes Erika and is closing on Sam B.

Oh I don't know - if you are a powerful rider that would be a distinct advantage...Frank through 109k in 4.58 plus his acrobatic skills might come in handy if he gets blown off the bridge :-)

Dave and Julian pass the 109k mark within 5 minutes of eachother with Dave just ahead in 5.18

Frank is now just 3:37min behind Neil as they pass the 150k mark! I think he might catch Neil before the end of the bike.

And Sam B is safely past the 109k mark.
