Support inclusive cycling at Herne Hill Velodrome

One of many organisations which also uses Herne Hill Velodrome is called Wheels for Wellbeing.

Their aim is to put on cycling sessions which are accessible to people with a variety of disabilities. Anyone who has ever seen these sessions will appreciate the fantastic work this organisation does.

But maintaining (and adding to) the specially adapted range of bikes used costs money and they are bidding for 10k funding from the Aviva Community Fund.

So I thought we could give them a hand by encouraging members to vote for fellow velodrome users at

https://www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/voting/project/view/16-2269

It really is worth supporting this excellent organisation.

You will see you get a legit 10 votes and it is ok if you use them all for Wheels for Wellbeing.

Might be of special interest to those not overwhelmingly impressed by the way some of the colonials voted this week? ;-)
Thanks for posting this Tony. My sister uses a special trike at a centre where my parents live and it's pretty much the only exercise she can do. These bikes are important!
Well done Tony for posting this!!!
I too am personally familiar with the org and definitely getting my vote.
Thanks for sharing Tony. 10 votes duly given.
If anyone is hesitating I just did this between Peckham rye and Denmark hill one handed on a busy train. If everyone in the club voted it could really work. Also share on social if you can
Thanks Tony for raising awareness of this, to help others have the opportunity to enjoy the velodrome too.
It got my 10 votes and took less than 5 minutes!

snap

Got my 10 votes too!

I gave them ten votes too.

Voting closes this Friday on 18 November and so far they have got 1947 votes...

...very relieved to see that a (different) football scheme that encourages children to wear black and white striped kit (!) only has 524 votes (there must be some kind of law against this though?)

10 votes from me.

Voting closes at midday tomorrow (Friday 18 November)

You can vote at

https://www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/voting/project/view/16-2269

They have 2129 votes so far. The project relies on voluntary help and they already have assembled an impressive fleet of specialised bikes. This award will help them meet a demand that we can already see is there.

This  project opens up the possibility of cycling at the Velodrome (which we pretty much take for granted) to people who can benefit from this activity enormously - both physically and psychologically - as you can read in the feedback from existing users.

Please find a few minutes to give them our support before voting closes tomorrow lunchtime.

well flagged up Tony

they get my 10 votes
