There is a new local event:

Tooting Bec Lido SwimRun on Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Entries are not open yet but when they do I am sure they will be very popular (based on the how quickly the Tooting Lido Aquathlon spots go!).

SwimRun events are becoming the new thing to do (see here for the original Otillo event in Sweden) and here for the UK Breca Events.

For now I am gaging interest, we can have teams of two or individuals if preferred, but would be great to get involved and have a bit of a Windrush team (just like the Cold Water Swim Championships that happened in January which were great fun!).

Post below if you fancy it and are interested....or if you are doing any other SwimRun events!

Who doesn't want to run in a wetsuit tied to someone?

Looks interesting. Shame you have to wear a wetsuit though.

I am very keen to compete in this! Thanks Becky

Me too..good practice for Breca!

Matt says they will look at the wetsuit rule as many don't have proper swim-run ones and there is a risk of overheating with just the lido/park to race in in a normal wetsuit :-)

Hi Becky. I'd be interested. Against my better judgment I'm doing the swimrun in Buttermere at end of July (which if I remember rightly you and Nick are also doing). I was trying to forget about the whole thing..

I might be interested... a bit put off by having to swim in trainers and then run in wet trainers though!

Yes - we need to figure out how people avoid huge blisters!!

I'd be interested but competing in the Great North Swim on 9th so might want to look after my feet! I think shorties are the way to go with SwimRun

I've tried this before and its worked !! Put some Compeeds on the areas of your foot that normally get blisters before the swim or maybe in transition, the second skin they create the barrier required & stop any blisters ( buggers to get off though after 24 hours ) but certainly do the trick  !!

Awesome news! Matt has confirmed that wetsuits are not compulsory now! Good news for those of us who don't own one with short arms/legs or have a spare to chop up as mid June might be a tad warm in London. There are no transitions though, so what you start in is what you race in. Just got to think about feet now!

Bring on the Windrush takeover!!

This sounds like it could be a lot of fun
Yes I'm game
