If you haven't raced before please have a good read of the official race guide here

There is also further information here.

Other top tips:

  • arrive with at least 1 hour to spare (to register and setup) - they open at 7.30am
  • bring your BTF licence to get a refund
  • remember where your bike is in transition
  • you get a race belt in your goodie bag when you register to put your number one
  • use bits of tape on your bike to count how many laps you have done - just incase your gps breaks down (please don't litter as that's against the rules)
  • wear (borrow if you haven't got any) Windrush kit so you can be cheered on by supporters
  • no nudity is a firm rule so technically only tri suits and two pieces that overlap can be worn (people generally wear a tri suit for the whole race)
  • don't touch your bike until your helmet is on and secure
  • only get on your bike after the mount line (and get off your bike before the dismount line!)
  • when on the bike try to only overtake on the right and shout to let them know when you are doing so
  • cheer on other participants during the race (especially other windrushers!!)
  • bring warm clothes to change into after
  • enjoy the race!!

It is a great race and a great day out so go and have a brilliant time!!

Don't forget the BBQ after...

Thank you Becky!!

Really looking forward to this, very nervous though!

I've realised I need a belt.

Does anyone knows if belts are provided at registration? If not, does anyone has a spare one I can borrow?

Many thanks

See you on Sunday!!

Rita

you get one in your bag....(I have been told...)

There is usually someone there selling them - if not you get two numbers so you can pin one to the front and one on the back of a tri suit or run vest

Hope you are working on 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 or is it? Did I miss one? Maybe I ll go round again just in case. This is so much fun....

Thanks Becky! good to know! Tony, I'm taking a small bag with 9 haribos!

Thats even better than tape! love it!

Make sure you remember if using tape/haribos whether you have 8 (and finish on next lap) or 9 (you finish as you peel off/eat the 9th).
Thank Ana for a great idea - I'm taking jelly beans! :)
I was hoping to use strava on phone to count bike laps, but race info doesn't seem to permit mobiles. Has anyone done this before/had any issues doing so?

Cheers,
Charlie
Yes Charlie loads of us have had issues counting to 9 in this race.

You can't use a mobile on the bike course or you will be disqualified. It is a busy course and you do need your wits about you. Especially at the chicane at the top and on the descent.

Try elastic bands on the handlebar? Stickers? Jelly babies? Delegating counting laps to the person on the back?

Good luck - it's a great laugh and if you do an extra lap or two you just increase the value for money
