Hi Everyone,

In 2016 I took on the role of Race Director for the Aquathlon (after the fab Laura stepped down) and  Bike Captain. I did have a relatively minor role helping out on The Transcontinental Bike Race but following Mike Hall's tragic death earlier this year that significantly changed and I'm part of the core TCR management team. I'm really passionate about both events so having these roles is a real honour.

Both events have been personally rewarding  but significantly time consuming which means since March I haven't been able to fulfil the role of Bike Captain as I had hoped (expect for posting events and the occasional bear bike packing adventure). Given that we want to continue having an Aquathlon and the cycling world wants a TCR; this time commitment will continue into the foreseeable future. Having come to this realisation this unfortunately means I won't be standing as Bike Captain come this years AGM.

The role of the Bike Captain is to the support the Head Coach, book venues, post events, encourage Sunday Bike rides and generally grow this aspect of the club. If you're interested in taking on this role and want to know more please speak to Lucy or me. You need to be self motivated, inclusive to all types of cycling and encouraging. So no mansplaining (eg Samwell Tarley for those Game of Thrones fans)

Don't worry the bike packing adventures will continue as seeing the country/world by bike is the only way to explore.

Big Love,

Rory
