Event Description

As part of the BTF-organised Velopark Duathlon series at the Olympic Park, Windrush will be helping out with the marshaling at one of these races (see here for more details).

The event itself is a 2 mile run / 10 mile bike / 1 mile run all contained within the grounds of the VeloPark at the Olympic Park.

What BTF do: registering participants, running the chip timing and organising signage and Hi-Viz marshal vests, and providing race numbers and medals.

What we do: marshal the event and present podium medals.

We need to provide 12 people to make up the marshal team.  Volunteers will need to get to the Olympic Park by 9am and the event finishes between noon and 1pm.

Why do it?

  • We are allowed to use the 1 mile road circuit ourselves between the end of the event and 2pm, so bring your bike and ride around the circuit after the event closes!
  • each volunteer gets £10 off entry to another VeloPark event (which means it costs less than £4 to enter another event in the series!)
  • volunteers organise and marshal the events YOU take part in and enjoy, so now it's your turn!

Just a reminder that you have all very kindly offered to help out at the Velopark Duathlon on Sunday 19 November. Those of you that are able to commit, please can you message me your details so I can start to assign roles and responsibilities via email/WhatsApp.
We would expect the last finisher by 12 at which time the circuit is turned over to us - I rode the course a couple of weeks ago and it was great!
Many thanks,

Just heard back from BTF on this and we could use a few more volunteers, so if you're unsure or a maybe at the moment, now's the time to commit! It'll be a fun (if slightly different) ride/run around after the race is over.

Paul - We will have use of the track after the main race and I'm planning on riding my bike around it for a bit.

Can you give more details about the plans for using the crit course afterwards?

Im keen to ride my bike on the track, less keen to run around it.

If we have one or two extras on the day, I'm sure it will be fine. If people are able to confirm in the week leading up that would be great!

When do you need to know by? My brother might be visiting but I might be able to persuade him to come along too...
