Hello everyone
It's that time of year when the temperature is getting closer to zero and you may be wondering how to get out and enjoy riding your bike while staying warm during winter rides.
Lots of members have shared tips and recommendations on WhatsApp over recent weeks, so I thought it would be helpful to collate as much as that information in one place for everyone. This isn't a definitive guide to winter kit, just what some club members find useful. Please…

Building on the buddy scheme introduced as part of the recently updated training schedule, we've put together a tri-down calendar - like an advent calendar but with a different tri-related challenge each day - to keep everyone virtually training/socialising together over the next four weeks.
Starting today, it will run until Sunday 6 December, with a new triathlon related task each day. You can see the week ahead, but the rest will only be revealed as the days go on!
The…

Hi all,
With the days getting shorter we are hoping that some additional running plans will provide some support and motivation to get out the door on dark evenings or cold weekend mornings! Please be reassured no dropping will be going on at any of these social member led runs, the point is to spend time on feet with the bonus of catching up with club members and making the miles fly by. If there is enough interest then…

Sunday 28th June should have been a glorious day at Brockwell Lido for the club's Aquathlon. Many of us will be volunteering to ensure another fantastic event and a few lucky members racing alongside other athletes. Unfortunately, as we're all too aware this is not possible due to the current circumstance.
However, we are all able to take part in the Windrush Virtual Aquathlon.
What is this? I hear you ask...
Alongside the ViS competition, you…

WINDRUSH OPEN WATER SWIMMING GUIDELINES
Some open water swimming venues are starting to reopen which is great for those of us who have been missing being in the water! Open water can include rivers, lakes, natural pools and the sea. There is a big difference between swimming in a pool and swimming outdoors, which comes with its own set of dangers. As a British Triathlon affiliated club, we encourage following their…

A brick session is when with little rest or interruption in between you complete a bike ride followed by a run.
The reason for doing brick sessions is to help your body get used to switching from one discipline immediately to another. Bike to run is called transition 2 (T2) in a race and with regular practice you could knock seconds or even minutes off your over all time!
Most athletes find the transition from bike to the run the toughest so here are some…

While triathlon is predominantly an outdoor sport that allows athletes to exercise in the fresh air, the message to all of us is clear, we must play our part in containing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping others safe whilst thanking those who are already!

The main focus during this time is looking after health and immunity. There are simple measures as athletes that we can do both physically and nutritionally to support the two.
Coach Alex has put together some useful advice/guidance to help you stay healthy:
The main one is moderation of exercise, especially during a time where we may have more time to train. If exercise duration of intensity frequency is rapidly increased it…
