Open Water Swim Training - Sunday 3 September - Shepperton

I am looking forward to coaching the open water swim training on Sunday.

If you have not yet signed up or are a 'Maybe' don't miss out on this opportunity to practice for your next race or experience open water as a beginner. If we have more than 14 people there will be an extra coach available so we can extend the numbers.

Some of you will be cycling to Shepperton and others driving. I will be taking the train from Clapham Junction with my bike to Walton on Thames and cycling from there. The train is at 0720 and arrives 0745. Please join me if  you wish.

The Events page shows details of what we will cover in the session and also contains a list of what to bring. Please note that you should pay me the £20 fee and I will pay the venue for your entry out of that but you will still need to sign in at the venue.

If you have any questions please post them here or contact me directly.

At the mo I'm planning on cycling probably from the lido if people want to join (I'm slow though!!).
Deborah, how vital is it to have a wet suit? I've tried 3 and neither fits well, and I won't get any now before Sunday. I normally swim in Lido without wetsuit, including in winter so I should be fine with cold water. Happy to bring my neoprene gloves and socks.

@ Sam, all being well tomorrow and if I can do with no wetsuit, I'm happy to cycle form Brockwell park too.

Thanks both!
You do not need a wetsuit if you are happy to swim and do drills in cool water. It's about 17-18C
I will try and keep everyone moving.
Perfect, see you tomorrow!

Deborah - many thanks for taking the time to impart your vast knowledge of open water swimming. Was very informative and good fun.

Also big thanks to everyone else for a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday morning especially those that kept me company on the ride there and back!

Hope everyone has demolished plenty of cake to make me feel less guilty for the two I smashed on the way home, plus the Full English :-)
