The current Triathlon season is nearly over...but don't fear it's now time to start planning the winter season (think cross country and duathlons) and 2018 spring and summer season (think triathlon, ironman, swimrun and aquathlons or even aquabike!).

This year we will take your suggestions (post below) and take it to an online vote which will be held in October.

Why suggest? It is more fun to do races together - so the more Windrushers we can get to one event the bigger, better and more exciting it will be! Post as many as you like, but only suggest if you actually will attend that event (supporter or racer).

Suggestions deadline: 14th October

Vote deadline: 31st October

There is that one Charles suggested - swim 4K on shark infested Arctic waters, cycle 200k round some islands off the coast, then run a marathon over some cliffs at the end of the island.

Sounded like it would sort the strong from the err... third of the field never seen again
Alpe d’Huez Tri - middle distance. Would love to have company & training buddies for this one. They only open the lake to swimmers once a year apparently!

I am going to suggest Breca Lake Buttermere Swimrun as it was awesome!

Maybe Ironman 70.3 in Estonia...

The event looks amazing - a long mid distance... 118k bike ride, but a stunning one.

not as glamourous as Alpes d'Huez but I did Bala Standard this year and it was brilliant. All closed roads and very scenic. Fast Bike Course. Quite a small one of 600 people - saw a few Clapham Chasers and Serpentine triers there this year. No dates as yet for 2018 but it was Sunday 3rd Sept this year. I'll be doing it again.

Nice small town with plenty of bnb and camping options too. Nearest train stations are Chester or Wrecsam.

Not a particularly unusual event but ive signed up for Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire in early June next year if anyone else fancies joining

I've already entered Love SwimRun Llanberis, which is a fairly modest 16km

I can echo Swim Run love. Breca (and maybe others) offers "sprint" distance and long distance on the same course at the same time. This is a great group event.

Sprint is very, very consumable. The distance is broken up into short bursts and nothing is overly difficult because of it. Those looking for a challenge should look at the long distance. This was more about attrition but equally awesome.

Just to mix it up, I'm suggesting AQUABIKE

The most appealing options seem to be:

Grafman (1.9km/90km) - 20th May. Swim is in the reservoir with an Australian exit and the bike is based in Cambridgeshire, so flat and fast bike times can be had. Camping potential and an easy train ride and short ride to the start.

Hever (1.9km/60km or 3.8km/120km) - 8th July. This will also be the GB age group middle distance triathlon national champs, so if we have people racing in that (or doing the long swims/marathons/ironman races on that day) we could link up. Great setting for racing, but a tough course.

So I'm doing IM 70.3 Marbella, April 29th, then planning a full IM late August, currently thinking either Denmark or Vichy, though I could be tempted to do IM Wales again if there was a big enough contingent (I'd highly recommend it).

Breca Buttermere Swimrun

Eton Dorney Draft Legal Sprint race 20th May - using those velodrome skills for tactical race fun (Also ITU 2018 and 2019 qualifier so a big one).

IM 70.3 Estonia as I maybe entering too..

Hever Castle half ironman July

Aquabike Grafman (1.9km/90km) looks good, Bala also

Ironman Estonia looks good, I'd also be up for either of these (although IM events are pricey!):

I did this half in June: http://trisalagou.montpelliertriathlon.com/ Standard and half courses, tough and very hot but great experience and could be great if a bunch of us go.
