I'm slightly shocked, given the way the organisers treated both adults and juniors in the club that Hever is on this list. Has it been forgotten how they knowingly put our health and that of all others who raced in danger just a couple of years ago? Has it been forgotten the terrible way the organiser treated those from many London clubs who raised very legitimate concerns about their water quality testing and communication with athletes? Many people ended up in hospital.
They were also very inflexible with our juniors and their entries and put them in danger on the run course route straight into adults who were sprinting for the line.
Surely there must be other races adults and juniors can do together than Hever? I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole nor let anyone I cared about race there.

Thanks for your feedback Laura - lots of lessons were learned back in 2015 and this race is now affiliated with BTF and follows their guidelines which offer the security and assurance we look for in a race.

It has been noted that a lot of our Juniors are still attending Hever (and loving it!) and we would love to link back up with them - there is another option box for you suggest other races that you may know of / researched that offer races for both.

As Head Coach in 2015 I can understand the force of Laura's opinion. Certainly at the time when I asked why the Hever event had not sought a BTF permit, the answer I received from one of the staff working on the Hever race did not inspire confidence.

The Committee at the time took the view that as a club we would not promote races to members that did not have a BTF permit i.e. when safety checks and water quality tests had met standards checke by BTF technical officials.

I don't think that position has changed?

Hever triathlon now have a BTF permit and one advantage of that race is that both adults and juniors can participate at the same event which builds the inclusivity of the club and significantly makes things easier for parents.

Having said that the Sussex tri organisers have been so good to us over the last two years that I would be reluctant to change back personally. Could we ask Sussex tri if they have ever thought of putting on a junior race at the same time?

Finally a lot of what happened in 2015 did not reflect well on the Heber organisers but everyone deserves a second chance and the BTF permit shows their attitude has changed and gives us the assurance that the race has been independently checked by people with relevant expertise.

But don't ask to see the communications we received at the time Becs ;-)

Thanks for your response Tony

Once the votes are in, we will be making sure the race choice(s) fit all our Club's criteria - whether it be Sussex, Hever or another popular suggestion...and also this goes for the Middle distance option to...

One more week to get your votes in!!

Sterling selection of races and I'm at the risk of wanting to sign up to all of them. Help!

Thanks for doing this Becky! I've voted... :-)

Results are being counted...you have this evening to quickly make your last votes count...

VOTE IS NOW OVER - RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED TOMORROW (hopefully - if I find a free moment - please bear with me...)
