Nick hi I’d be very interested in a general (pub-based) introduction discussion to how the qualification system works, the difference between Tri England the BTF, ITU vs ETU etc.

I’ve decided my only realistic chance is to drop them he swimming so am targeting Bedford draft legal sprint Du in March !

Hi Lloyd. A session will be organised sometime within the next month around all this.

The draft legal races are really fun!

Thinking about some race entries for next year...Few Black Friday discounts I have seen advertised today:

- Eton Dorney ITU qualifier - discounted entry today with BLACKTRIDAY code £12 off. --->Good fun to practice those drafting skills from the velodrome too!

- Leeds ETU qualifier and British Champs - discount £10 off BLACKTRIDAYST code

I'm sure lot's of other race entries across the board will also be discounted today so check them out.

I've just booked up St. Neots Standard, and plan to do all the ITU & ETU Standard Qualifiers. Bust season...

J

I'm doing St Neots and Deva as qualifying races. Not sure I will be quick enough to qualify for ITU, but will give it a go.

Whats the difference between British Championships, Triathlon England Championships & Qualifiers and how does one qualify for ITU (ETU?).

I think I'll probably do Leeds on 10/6

@Oli - British (includes England/Wales/Scotland etc as well), Triathlon England Champs is just the English title - basically anyone can enter these events and they are usually tagged alongside some of the big UK triathlons as they attract most people. So basically if you win your AG at one of those races you'll take the title. Like our Champ Becky did in 2017!!

Then the Qualifiers are if you want to qualify to represent GB in your AG at the European (ETU) and World Championships (ITU).. ETU has a slightly lower qualification standards/cutoffs than the ITU..but both are achievable if you set your goals! The qualifiers are again usually part of bigger races and you can opt in if you want to register your intention to qualify. It's also done across age groups so goes from 18 up to 85's categories!

Across the races and distances there are different qualifier races and criterias to meet. Best way to understand more is to read up on the BTF site: https://www.britishtriathlon.org/age-group  and then the races you want to target https://www.britishtriathlon.org/gb-teams/age-group/age-group-quali...

I'm also planning a Windrush talk/seminar about this either in Feb or early March for Q&A with Justin and for info about the process and our experiences...Watch out for the event invite soon.

Hope this helps a bit. Any questions just let me know..

Nick

Also races I've entered so far:

-Eton Sprint on 20/5 for 2018 and 2019 ITU qualification (draft legal bike fun too!)

I already have my place confirmed for ETU and ITU Standard for 2018. But may look to enter a few for 2019 (all the qualifiers now happen a year in advance usually) - just need to plan the rest of my season..

Snap. Plus Leeds. Bring on the Windrush campsite party.... I mean a very competitive day of racing.

FYI - For anyone who is planning to enter Eton Dorney ITU Sprint Qualifier (draft legal - for 2018 and 2019 championships) - Today is the last day of a reduced price before it goes up again.. http://humanrace.co.uk/event/itu-sprint-distance-triathlon-world-ch...

I've entered Deva standard distance, no qualifiers
