I have some annual leave I need to take before the end of the year, is anyone up for a midweek ride or run? Somewhere pretty, nearby, Kent hills etc? Even just Richmond park?

These will not be either far or fast, and I will likely insist on coffee at the end. I have trail run ideas but would welcome ride route suggestions.

Running up to 15k distance (probably more like 10), 6.30 per km ish (that's a flat off-road pace). Cycling I guess 20kph, 50-60k? I am flexible...

Oddly I was going to post about run buddies, as today was the start of My Marathon Training Plan,  Thank you sooooo much  Lucy Hurn for the assistance .

I am planning on winding down with work from The 15th December or just take the odd break during the week as its been pretty flat out this year. I think I am about the same need in terms of pace. Strava has suggested 55 mins for 10 K ( must have been a good day ) I did 3 miles this morning in 33 mins  but thats me holding back ;-)

I may go down to Richmond Park in the car for a run round the park its awesome.

Trail runs  road runs I just want to run...

Paul, yes we are probably about the same pace. I am coming back from a bit of a running break as I was having back pain and problems with my hip so don't want to push it too much, just some social runs at an easy pace. I'm also thinking of starting to build up for a spring marathon now I'm a bit better.

I've booked all next week off and the 18th and 19th now. I would be interested in a trip to Richmond Park to run!

I've also booked tomorrow off work, will possibly do a ride out with someone from Penge CC at about 10am. Distance and speed TBC but probably 35m / 50k at 13 mph/21kph, out to Kent.

Other running spots I'm interested in include round Eynsford; Lullingstone park, Darent Valley, the Woldingham circular walk. I'd also like to do more of the North Downs way (although may be muddy). Epping forest is nice, and I have never run on Hampstead Heath.

I'm up for planning a running day out between Christmas and New Year too to blow away the cobwebs.

Don't worry Esther, I on the base phase, never push too much on my running &  live in Zone 2 for most of my life.

Ive still got to finish off some work projects which are quiet pressing and will take up next week. But how does Saturday 16th  sound to you ? My training plan has scheduled a 7.5 mile run which is basically Richmond Park . Ill drive, park up at Rohampton and plod round ?

I've done Epping Forest years ago, its just a few miles from where I grew up & North Downs or South Downs is always a favourite. keen on Woldingham and the other too.

I am in Devon from 24th for approx 4-5 days and maybe off to Cornwall afterward or out of The Country.  but ill keep you posted on movements as Ill be in full Marathon Mode ( I don't know what that is, but it sounds brilliant ).

7.5 miles on Saturday 16th fits my plan very well (and by plan I mean indeterminate biro scrawlings stuck on my fridge). What sort of time Paul? Anyone else living the Zone 2 life want to join?

Looking at the weather next week Tuesday or Thursday seem like clear days for a ride although it could be icy, Wednesday is forecast for rain but warmer, so will keep an eye on it and try to plan something.

If anyone has any ideas for ride routes where the roads are likely to be less icy I would be very interested!

Excellent !! not too early, one life luxury I have is the Saturday morning lie in.  I was thinking of getting to Richmond Park at around 10 AM ( Ish ) ? I do have some flexibility on time this Saturday Morning.

My weather report is showing snow and rain, but next Saturday looks sunny.

In terms of ride routes where you don't need to be a National Ice Skating Champion to stay on your bike, I would also suggest Richmond Park. Its so open any sun melts any ice ( I think or that comment sounds plausable ) or latest if you do fall off and hurt yourself you are around plenty of the general public to help you just in case.
