New swim course starting 12 Jan - sign up now for a place

After the success of our new swim course at the end of 2017, we’ll be running our second course starting Friday 12 Jan, taught by amazing coach and 2017 British Champion (30–34) Becky Goodwin.

The course will run weekly on Fridays from Friday 12 Jan for 7 weeks through to 23 Feb at JAGS (Red Post Hill, Dulwich, London SE24 9JN) from 8.15-9.15 pm.

You will need to pay in advance for the full course and places are not transferable (i.e. if you can't attend one of the nights you can't sell your place to someone else because the course will build on what you have learnt in previous weeks).

The course will cost £70 per person (that's a bargain price of a tenner per session, including pool entry) and for the course to go ahead we need at least 12 people to sign up, up to a max of 16 people. For details of the course, see below.

To reserve your place please put a message in the comments section confirming your attendance AND ping me a PM through the forum with your email address (if you’re not already my ‘friend’ on the forum then just include your email address in the message request). We will start taking payment once enough people signed up below so please check you definitely want to do the course before signing up below. Places will be allocated on first come, first served, with any above 16 forming the waiting list.

Once we have at least 12 people signed up below we'll be asking for payment straight away so keep an eye on your email/ this forum post to secure your place. This version of the course is aimed at intermediate swimmers, if you’d class yourself as more of a beginner swimmer then look out for the next course, starting 2 March.

The sessions will focus on the following:

- Breathing (eg head position, rotation)

- Streamline (eg body position, kicking)

- Co-ordination (eg core)

- Stroke Development (eg hand entry, catch, pull and push)

- Speed Development (eg better technique = faster speeds, pacing)

Based on a survey of participants from the previous course, all respondents

  • felt they improved as a swimmer as result of the course
  • felt it was great value for money
  • most felt that the greatest benefit of the course was greater understanding about what they should be aiming for in each phase of the stroke.

For those who didn't get a place on the course, please remember we have a range of other swim sessions which are welcome to all, (so long as you can swim 200m unaided) -https://windrushtri.co.uk/winter-training/. Coaches are always there to give you advice and support so please do ask if you have any specific questions about your swimming.

The next course starts on the 2 March and is aimed at beginners, details will follow on the forum (and it will be a new sign up list).

UPDATE:

Everyone up to (below) Camilla has a place on the course, subject to payment. You should have received an email from Colin with payment details. You have until Tuesday 9 Jan to pay for the course. If you have not paid by then, then your place will be reallocated to the next person on the waitlist (starting from Johannes).

Everyone above Camilla is on the wait list, in order of sign up. There are currently 6 people on the wait list.

Attendees have until next Tuesday to pay, so those on the wait list keep your eyes on your email on Wednesday just in case any places come free. You'll need to be a paid up member of Windrush for 2018 to pay for the course, so you might want to make sure you've done that anyway so that you can pay for the course straight away (and cos its January, so of course you'll be wanting to pay anyway :D ).
