Hi all,

First of all apologies if there is a newbie introduction thread/post I've missed and am spamming this message onto the forum. Took a look at the faqs and forum but couldn't spot one.

With that said, I'm looking to join up to a tri club to attempt to put some structure around training. Done a few sprint tri's over the last few years (to decidedly sub average levels) but solo training is all too easy to be slack on (for me anyway) and as I'm now based in south london and have been swimming at brockwell, thought Windrush would be just the ticket (first came across the club a few summers back when a speed merchant in your colours came zooming past me on the bike leg of the london tri)

So long story short, what is the best session for newbie to roll up to and join in? Are there any courses (swim, run, bike) which "improvers"/newbies can sign up to off the bat for a bit of structure? Looking to kickstart the new year...

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Hi Dan,

I'm also new to the club. Similar story - have done a few triathlons including last season. Looking to make some progress in the coming year. I'm going to the park run / lido sessions tomorrow which seems a good way to start...

Jon

Not many of us did our first session swimming in the Lido in December.

But you won’t forget it in a hurry.

All club sessions are designed to be inclusive and push you to wherever your current limits lie.

Saturday morning is though a really good time to make friends - as there is a tradition of eating cake in the Lido cafe afterwards in the hope you do not lose a hand or foot to frostbite.

Welcome Dan and Jon! You've joined an awesome and very friendly club! All sessions will start up again in the New Year by the way....we are on a little break this week!

Also, bring a lot of warm clothes to wear after swimming tomorrow as sometimes we sit in the outside part of the cafe if the group is very big.

Welcome to the Windrush family guys. Come to Track - it’s a great session and is designed to suit all abilities and bring your running on

Hey Jon and Dan, Welcome!!

Looking forward to meeting you both soon and hope you settle into the Windrush Familly.

Turn up to the sessions that you want!

The swim sessions have two lanes so you can chose where you fit better, spin is on a stationary bike so no worries about your speed vs anyone else. Track and velodrome are on a fixed track so again your ability’s are matched to the track. Saturday is a more social time where you can sit down and catch up with everyone!

join us for the NY party - that way you can get to know us!!

Hi All,

Thanks for the warm welcome!  I've just signed up for the Friday swim course, and am looking to go to Sunday's beginners cycle session off to Richmond Park.

Signed up for before xmas for the Weymouth 70.3 in Sept 2018....so thought I should get cracking!  See ya in due course.
