Are you A Male Master Endurance Athlete (40-65 years of age)?

Hi all,

We've received an email from a cardiologist carrying out a PhD project looking at the long term effects of exercise on the hearts of older athletes. Her name is Dr Gemma Parry-Williams and she's working alongside Professor Sanjay Sharma, an eminent sports cardiology at St George’s hospital in Tooting. She is seeking to recruit healthy males aged 40-65 for inclusion in a study. Further details attached.

I tried to sign up for a "friend" (who's over 40 as obviously I'm still a young man) but it seems the study is full.

which is a shame as my 'friend' really fancied knowing their electrocardiogram and VO2 max numbers...

Just tried same message which is a shame as I am in my Naughty Forties.

aha I contacted them and the link was faulty. do try again Paul. my "friend" will also be delighted...

Just done it. Pretty tricky Quantitative Question at the start but I managed.

Thanks Aine

Looks interesting, always thought of giving my body to medical science;))

So how come they are not interested in Female Mistress Endurance Athletes?

You'll need to take that up with the researchers Tony

Maybe they are aware of this cautionary tale?

Look forwad to meeting your 'friend' during the study Lloyd.

Sad story Tony but not quite sure how it bears on the study. The questionnaire didn't ask about EPO usage. Perhaps that comes later!

I have filled in and submitted. fingers crossed!

I have been offered a place on the study. Not quite sure what I am letting myself in for...

Snap Ive been offered a place I'm going to hold my breath and go for it.... Actually holding my breath may cause an adverse event in the results :)
