Has anyone booked up to ride the Hell Of Ashdown sportive this year? Its on the 18th Feb

It was great to ride with the club last year and I'm keen to do it again.

Sorry to miss the Windrush peloton but wasn't it a beautiful day? I set off early and rode the first half with Penge cycle club who kept up a merry pace. I  was back by 1:20pm, and was able to cycle on to my friends for a late Sunday lunch in Plumstead; a 160km day all told. The friends took one look at me (mud-spattered from head to foot) and ran me a bath....The HOTA organisers certainly pack the hills in so I doubt I am the only one with sore legs today.

Sorry guys I missed you, but my Mediterranean blood was freezing so I started at 9.50 just before drop dead in hypothermia.

Great sportive. And I definitely need climbing gears|!

Was very much an awesome day out with the WindrushFamily plus perfectly timed between the crappy weather to boot.

Colin, let's just say the shoulder is significantly more sore than the legs. There is nothing broken which is the best news. No swimming for a while but should be back on the bike in a few days once things have settled down a little.

Great day out but happy not to see another hill for a few weeks. Well done to everyone who rode and hope you're not feeling too sore this morning Colin.

I loved it too :) a huge thank you to Luis and the amazing HOTA organisers at the finish line who kept me entertained when I waited for a long time for my other half to arrive! Great ride and Hogtrough Hill is my new favourite

Hmmm. Hogtrough Hill is so horribly steep that it puts one's power to weight ration in to distressingly sharp relief. Mantra I repeat to myself as I struggle to turn the peddles over: Don't be a hog: stop troughing!

When I did Hogtrough only 10% of the cyclists were actually on the bike..

Sorry to hear this Colin, take it you came off the bike at some point? There were some very muddy bits, loads of potholes and areas of greasy road, easy to come a cropper.

It was truly amazing and great to see some recognisable faces! :-)

Hogtrough Hill, hmmm,  that little bastard in the end, ruined my average, LOL

Kentish Killer next weekend. Anyone on it? I certainly am, 9 am start! getting addicted to this sportive stuff!

Thanks Charles. Well didn't actually come off the bike, shoulder charged the side of a car on the fast descent down Cudham Lane, just after you veer left onto Downe Road then hard left into Church Hill. The car was on Church Hill waiting to turn and I dithered for a moment before realising the need to go hard left and collected him.

All in all could have been a lot worse so cannot complain... My British Cycling Insurance policy is about to get tested. The guy has already sent the £1600 repair quote! The wonders of modern technology and the speed of communications these days.
