On Bank Holiday Monday (at the risk of calling down the wrath of the Weather Gods) Haren and I are planning to take out his Dolan tandem for a spin to clear off any cobwebs that "may" have become attached since the last Sussex triathlon.

Our plan is to cut out the boring weave through South London traffic by taking the train out from Herne Hill at 9.34 to Otford. in Kent. Then spend the morning "meandering at a social pace" along Pilgrims Way and out into the beautiful Kent countryside.(which hopefully will not be blanketed with rain, fog etc etc)

Depending on a number of factors, we "might" try a few climbs up to the top of the Ridge (but don't bet on it)

What you can be certain of is that the ride will be at a social pace, that anyone will be able to cope with, and I would not be at all surprised if the journey ended at the Tea Shoppe in Otford. Then you could either ride back or join us on the train.

Post below if interested in joining us - the idea would be to meet before 9 outside Herne Hill station.

Liz and I are planning to join tomorrow

Brilliant see you at Herne Hill shortly before 9 to buy the tickets

Will post on here if we have any problems getting the tandem over from Tooting

I’d also like to join if that’s ok.

Cheers, Tony, really looking forward to tomorrow!

Well guess what - the Dolan tandem was indeed the home of a spider as can just about be seen by the cobweb in the photo of the bike taken this morning

But i have to say it was impressive the way Charles and Haren coped with the climb up to West Kingsdown....probably not the time to warn them Leith Hill is worse but pretty certain they’ll do the Prudential 100 no problem

Just dont forget to set up your sponsor page and post the link!

Thought the fields of oilseed rape harvesting EU subsidies glowing in the sunshine threw doubt on the wisdom of Brexit Charles?

Thanks for organising the ride Tony, was good fun!

Actually I hate the smell of oilseed rape and don't think its fluorescent yellow flowers are particularly attractive either. That is not to say that Brexit is a good idea however!

Thank you Tony for leading us on a spectacular ride in the north Kent lanes on a cloudless sping day. Good to get some tandem practice in with Haren and enjoy a convivial pub lunch in Otford after. Sarah and I made good time back to Lambeth by bike but were pretty well fried on arrival. It was HOT!

Photo from yesterday. Not sure the tandem spider is visible...

Thats probably because I ate the spider - along with far too many cakes ...as your photographic evidence clearly proves lol

But it was a fun ride - let me know if you and Haren need help with Pru100 training rides

Tony, thanks for organising the ride - weather, route, scenery and of course the company of fellow Windrushers was fantastic.

Haran and Charles - you will ace the Pru100, the only thing you need to work on is a war cry when you are hurtling downhill.
