Hello Windies!

Off the back of the Edinburgh sea swim practice, I've spotted a swim event that might be of interest to people wanting some sea swimming..

Herne Bay Pier to Pier swim has a 750m, 1.5km or 3km option, all of which let you experience sea swimming! It starts at 2pm, so there's no stress about accommodation. Get the train down in the morning, do the swim, have fish and chips, get the train back. The sign up link is: https://www.britishtriathlon.org/events/Active-Life-Pier-to-Pier-Sw...

I will be signing up for the 3km option, but would really encourage anyone curious about/interested in/desperate for some sea swimming. Post below if you're interested in coming along too.

I was advocating fish and chips. But if those doing the shorter distance want to secure the fish and chips I’d be grateful ;)

Signed up for the 3km :-)

I've signed up too for 3km

I'm late to the party but yes, count me in! Up for the 3km.

I've signed up for the 3k :)

Woop! Great work everyone! The more the merrier! :D

The sea looked fairly calm when we were there on Monday. Hoping for the same in July!

I'e signed up for the 3km. I've had bad luck at triathlons with sea swims so I'm hoping this will be lovely and calm!

Let me know what train time to book :-)

Woop! I’ll have a look at Train times over the weekend and see what works best. Hampton pier is about 25 mins walk from Herne Bay station.

So, the only real options seem to be the 10:40 from Victoria which arrives at 12:07 in Herne Bay, or the 11:40 from Victoria which arrives at 13:07. The earlier train would give some time to grab something to eat and have it on the beach before heading to Hampton Pier. The later train would mean walking straight over once you arrive.

Given the cost is the same if we book it now, or on the day (and I don't know if we need to get there a certain amount of time before the swim start), I'd propose waiting until nearer the time to sort trains.

Tempted to join in the fun

Good plan - happy to take the early one from Victoria and to wait until the day to book trains. Thanks for looking it all up!
