Hello Windies!
Off the back of the Edinburgh sea swim practice, I've spotted a swim event that might be of interest to people wanting some sea swimming..
Herne Bay Pier to Pier swim has a 750m, 1.5km or 3km option, all of which let you experience sea swimming! It starts at 2pm, so there's no stress about accommodation. Get the train down in the morning, do the swim, have fish and chips, get the train back. The sign up link is: https://www.britishtriathlon.org/events/Active-Life-Pier-to-Pier-Sw...
I will be signing up for the 3km option, but would really encourage anyone curious about/interested in/desperate for some sea swimming. Post below if you're interested in coming along too.

Any other Sea Swim Events in the South East people can recommend this summer?

I’d be up for the short (2.5km) on Saturday 4 August. Could be persuaded to go long. Anyone doing it and – ideally – driving?

Signed up for the 750m Herne Bay. First proper sea swim in the UK. And I'll be getting the train!
Just signed up for the 3km :)
Update on trains - there was mention of either the 10:40 or 11:40 from Victoria, but given they've said registration closes at 1:25, and it's a 25 mins walk from the station, the 10:40 is looking like the only option. Gets us in at 12:07, at Hampton pier by 12:30ish when reg just opens
If so - see you at Victoria at 10:30!
Thanks for checking Fran.
Given the race briefings are at 13:30 for the 3km swimmers, you will want to get to registration by 1pm, so you aren't rushed getting ready. I'll also be getting the 10:40 which gets in to Herne Bay at 12:07, so I can amble over to the start and register.
See everyone there! Looking forward to our mini takeover of this event!
Hi everyone - I'll also be getting the 1040 from Victoria. See you at the station/on the train!
Thanks to everyone to made it down to Herne Bay on Sunday. It was great to see so many of us push through the waves (some faster than others!) and get around the course. And extra kudos to Emily B who was 1st female and 3rd overall and Nicola who was 2nd female! Woop! If we go back next year, hopefully it'll be a little calmer!
With some pictures from our super supports Lisa and Claire!
