Following requests from various members and building on prior years’ “five*five” parkrun challenge your run captain is delighted to announce the Windrush autumn 2018 parkrun challenge.
Format is slightly revised from prior years to make it even fairer for everyone and easier to participate. It will be run as a handicap where each runner will be competing fair and square vs themself, and it will also encourage people to try new parkruns.
Rules:
Only official parkruns and parkrun results count. Times for road or trail 5K races are ineligible.
Each runner’s Handicap time will the average of their fastest 3 parkruns in 2018 between 1/1 and 31/8.
[if you haven’t run 3 yet this year then it will be the average of those that you have done prior to 31/8 so you still have time to set a mark].
if a runner beats their handicap their handicap adjusts to the average of their new 3 fastest parkruns in 2018.
runners must complete one parkrun in 3 of the months of September, October, November & December
Bonus points for choosing a new parkrun You’ve not done before. For Those who’ve not yet done a bit of parkrun tourism here’s your chance.
Scoring:
running a new parkrun. 10 points
running faster than handicap. 50 points
bonus for completing all four. 25 points
beating all time parkrun pb. 100 points.
Attendance bonus if >5 Windrushers all do the same new parkrun together. 100 points each
bonus for four different letters of the parkrun alphabet. 50 points.
Please comment on here if you would like in, let me know your parkrun profile and let’s use the running whatsapp to encourage each other out.
On a personal note, i am also trying to tick off the parkrun alphabet hence the final point!
results to be announced at the Windrush end of year celebration party in January.
happy running people.

Sounds complicated, but count me in. Parkrun no. A434948.
Oh. And one more thing. If you haven’t ever done a parkrun and want in later in the year that’s fine. Your first one will be your handicap and it will then adjust per the above rules
Do I score points for volunteering!? A great idea and will see if I can do a couple of runs A 2171296

Emily good question. Let's say that anyone who runs at least 3 [one per month] and volunteers 1 in the period will get 100 points for volunteering.
The object here is to encourage running parkrun rather than marshalling/supporting it.
The marshalling / supporting is our annual Windrush takeover of Brockwell. [which I also need to arrange!].
I'll give this a go, my parkrun number is A335021
My daughter is a Windrush Junior member, (she's 13) can she play along too? Her number is A596418
