This is a great winter 'reliability ride' organised by Westerley cycle club in the Chilterns on Sunday January 13. I am planning to do the 110km route, hilly and scenic in unfamiliar territory north west of London. If any other Windrushers would like to join I can give three people a lift plus bikes leaving Peckham at 7:30am. The event is already filling up so you need to sign up now:

All yours Alex. I can only work with two bikes on my car so we're now full.

Christine, car space is all yours (I’m off to snowy slopes!). Sorry, meant to say to you today but forgot. Sorry to miss this but have a great ride guys.

  • I am potentially gonna have to drop out of this as I’m sorting v last min ski trip! Not yet sure what day I’m travelling on but I should know by tonight then car space with Charles is yours. Is it ok if I let you know this eve?

Ah great thank you. Charles is the space available? Enjoy your ski trip!

That is fine Christine, you can replace Sarah in my car.

My lot: suggest we meet at lido car park 7:30am sharp to load up for drive to Chalfont St Peter. We should get there c 8:45am and have time for a coffee before setting off at c 9:15am on the long route. I expect this will take us 4 hours or a little more, so we should be finishing 1:15-1:30pm.

Please download GPX file of the route from teh Westerley Winter Warmer website and load on to your garmins. The arrows have a habit of going missing during the ride and it is easy to get lost.

See you bright and early on Sunday! Cheers

So as it turns out I never got a place. By the time lift was sorted etc. the event was sold out. I was 8th on the waiting list (was hoping to do the 60km event) when I signed up on Monday but alas, never heard back, so I'm out.
I shall be riding around the Kentish hills instead. I wish you all a wonderful ride!

Charles, thanks for a great suggestion for a new place to go for a spin on the bike. A thoroughly enjoyable day with your good self, Alex, Andrew & Colin.

Yes, thanks Charles and all. Great day out!

Great ride everyone, and nice that we were joined by Russ O'Malley, who has been to Kona no less than six times and podiumed there twice! Chiltern hills are his normal training ground and it showed.

Yeah was great to meet Russ. What a legend... Well he is Aussie so do we expect any differet? Haha!
