Chase the Sun 22nd June 2019

2019 seems to be a year of cycling for me.

As well as doing track league down at HHV which runs Wednesday nights through the summer, I have a couple of special sportives in the diary. the first is to do Ride 100 on my black and orange fixie - wearing matching gear!

But the one I'm most excited about is CTS. it sets off at sunrise in the East (Isle of Sheppey) on the summer solstice Saturday (04:41am) and riders have to get to the sea in the West (Burnham-on-Sea) before the sun sets (21:33). which is 205 miles away. It is self-supported, no cost, no numbers, and an absolutely amazing day out.

I can probably offer 2-3 people a lift to the start and maybe even a lift back the following day (herself dependent).

it's an endurance and eating test of self-control and pacing rather than being about how strong a cyclist you are.

Did this last year with Frank, Geoffrey and Shaun, absolutely epic day. Set off at 4:40am and rolled in to Burnham on Sea at 8:40pm. Lost half an hour right at the start when the lift bridge from the Isle of Sheppey suddenly went up to let a ship through!

I've done this ride 4 times and totally recommend it. Great atmosphere along the route and certainly testing on the mind, legs and bum.It is becoming more and more popular so finding accommodation at Burnham on Sea for Saturday night might be a challenge by now

Hi Lloyd,

I am a new member (not new cyclist) and have signed up. Ive booked accom in Sittingbourne (closest i could get) and Burnham which I think is half the battle!

I will likely cycle out myself on the Friday - but have a grand ambition to cycle back on the Sunday, however a lift might be great if possible. At worst case it would be nice to ride with someone / share tactics / routes! Perhaps could message me on 07548 952452 and go from there?
