Hi all,

At the AGM we will be voting on which races will be our 2020 club champs. We usually have a sprint, olympic and middle distance champs taking place across the season, where we encourage Windrush attendance, arrange socials around etc. This year for example, 30 of us went down to Sussex and camped, had a BBQ and cheered each other on in the race (and took home most of the medals!). We want to ensure we're giving the members the chance to choose, so we will be voting on the favoured races for champs. Please start having a think about any races you'd like to put forward, and let either me or Becky Goodwin know before the AGM.

A few guidelines for ease:

We have a relationship with Crystal Palace Tri and the sprint race is usually our club champs - happy to hear feedback though.

Olympic: end of season is ideal. Previous have included Hever Castle (juniors race same day) and Sussex (camping extravaganza).

Middle: mid-season is ideal. Traditionally been Cotswolds and we've had lots of success here, plus a few members did Holkham this year which could be a possible alternative. UK-based is preferable, as we want as many people as possible to attend!

We could attempt a points-based full-distance club champs for full Iron, and would welcome any ideas on how this could work, or if you think a specific race would be worth looking into.

The above are just ideas to get you started - we want to have as many to choose from as possible and want to hear from as many of you as possible! Please let us know the races you want to put forward :)

Sprint - CP

Standard - Deva - lots of goodies, what more could you want? (Also selfishly near my home town)

I’m going to add my bit: middle distance - Yorkshireman - I loved it there, great location and well organised, great camping too (with lots of space so it didn’t feel crowded) and late June, which is perfect for anyone training for full distance later in the season

It’s also very affordable and they offer an option to pay in three instalments too

My suggestions:

Sprint: Crystal Palace

Olympic: How about London? Not a great course but logistically handy

Middle: Deva in Chester: Actually very easy to get to by train (and 10-15 mins walk from the train station), very well organised, very friendly and great goodies (pre and post race). Deva is the race that keeps on giving!

Sprint - CP

Standard - DEVA/Chester - bit of a joinery but it's a really well organised and supported event plus we have a nice Italian for pre race carb and red wine load-up. Alternatively Hever Castle.

Middle - Holkham

Long - bonkers the lot of you ;)

My suggestions are:

Sprint - CP

Standard - Arundel, Brighton (just to throw a few different ones into the mix!).  Arundel is logistically a bit better/cheaper with camping option.

Half - Holkham Half looks beautiful but never raced it.

2020 -  I do intend to make a come back.

My votes are:

Crystal Palace same as Becky said and I can't think of anything else.

Middle = Staffordshire 70.3

Middle =  Outlaw ( Any )

Middle = Yep Hever could work. ( but I still remember Hever Fever )

Long = ( Not a chance this end so there is no point me even mentioning one )

My vote* is:
Sprint = Crystal Palace in May (couldn't get any closer and run by local club CPT)
Olympic = London Tri in July (Part of the london league and already a firm favourite of members especially new ones)
Middle = The Gauntlet at Hever Castle in September (camping fun, good freebies, familiar course, travel on the day and a olympic distance for those who don't want to do the middle champs!)
Long = Alp d'huez......

*I hope I am allowed a vote...if not some ideas! (feel free to post yours below!)
