Some may recall we did this last year. They’ve been in touch and are seemingly keen to renew the arrangement – same task (wetsuit/Serpentine stuff). In fact, they liked us so much we also have two free entries for this year’s event: BOOM!
Those of us who did this last year found the weekend both rewarding and exciting – we were in the water with the athletes and also had the very best positions in Hyde Park for when the professionals took over. It is a worthwhile experience in many respects.
At this stage - if you’re not signed up for an event already and are keen on this - it’s a heads up about the dates (i.e. May 30-31). Last year they also wanted us to go along on the Friday afternoon as well (the 29th) for some pretty straight forward training.
To give some idea here’s couple of photos from last year – the first is of Windie’s Erika and Beth helping an athlete to transition from swim, and the second is of the rather marvellous Helen Jenkins (couldn’t be closer to transition).
If you want to know a little more either ask here or seek out Erika, Beth or Sam B at a training event near you. I think Beth may also plan to mention this at t'committee.
More details to follow, every/anyone welcome, currently mostly a heads up atm about the dates.

It's looking like I'm not racing this season - so, might as well. Where do I sign up?
Great stuff, guys!
Paul, nothing confirmed on arrangements yet but based on last year:
Lenster – for now, it's okay to put it in your diary, they will be in touch in due course
Excellent! :)
Just bumping this back up the forum- It was a fantastic thing to do and I actually enjoyed the volunteering more than racing the following day! Please ask lots of questions, but our photos were used all over the world in ITU promotional material and we were a seriously proud bunch of Windies on that day. Can't wait to help out again.
