Some of us doing our Level 2 coaching qualification are planning some additional training sessions as part of our qualification process. The sessions are being posted as events on the website, but we wanted to give you a bit more detail here as well.

You do not need to take part in all the sessions although the sessions will be progressively linked and will build on things covered in previous sessions.  This is an ideal opportunity to cover base training in February and early March.

I also need 3 people to fill in some additional details so I can profile them as athletes (nothing scary at all, I just need some additional details). Please let me know below if you would be up for this.

Beginners Bike sessions in Richmond Park – Ideal for new members or those nervous of joining club rides

  • 60 min session in Richmond Park (either meet at Richmond Park at 09.30 meeting point: car park at Roehampton Gate, or join an uncoached ride from Clapham Common tube station at 08.40).
  • Sunday 1st Feb, 8th Feb and 15th Feb.
  • The sessions will cover braking, cornering, hill climbing, descending and transition plus building fitness.
  • Aimed at beginners but anyone is welcome to attend.

Run technique and fitness in Brockwell Park

  • 60 min pre work session
  • 7am on Wednesdays from 4 February - 11th March at Brockwell Park by the Lido
  • The sessions will include run technique as well as building base endurance and speed and should be an ideal preparation for the Fleet Half marathon.
  • Suitable for all levels.
  • We are keen to trial a pre work session, as some people have asked for more early sessions, please do sign up so we can check there is sufficient demand to make this work.

We will also be taking some swim sessions but these will be run within existing training sessions.

This is an ideal opportunity to cement those New Year resolutions and to help you achieve your goals for 2015 – we look forwards to seeing you at the sessions! Any questions, do shout!

Sounds great. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to some of the run sessions :)
Great. I'll definitely be up for the run mornings but will have to leave a little early to make my 8:01 train. Unless I can suggest a 6:45 start?! And happy to give some extra info if helps.
It think we'll struggle for light for the first few sessions but if other people are keen we could think about an earlier start for the later sessions. Anyone else prefer an earlier start?
Good point, pesky winter! Don't worry Im more than happy to stick with 7, it's only a quick dash over the road so I'll only have to miss a tiny bit and can stretch/cool down on the train!

I'd be keen to join the run sessions and would prefer an earlier start, but could just about fit in a 7am start as long as colleagues don't mind me still sweating when I get to my desk ;)

All sounds great and really useful...I'm in for the bike already and will definitely go for the run too!

I could be tempted for the run session if i can find somewhere to shower at work afterwards, i'll see what I can do!

Sounds good Lucy - thanks. I'll be keen for run sessions - I also don't mind being profiled.
I'd be up for the run sessions but Brockwell Park is too tricky for me to get to and then get to work from, at that time in the morning :( If you decide to do any at Tooting or Streatham Common I'm in!

I'll be up for the run sessions, 7am start is ok but 6.45 would be great if it was an option!

Agreed re 6.45, and may still need to leave early. I would come for sure. Thank you for making this happen

Hiya, sunrise not due til 7.30 on the 4th Feb, so I think 6.45 would be pushing it, so lets stick with 7 for the first 2, but as the sun comes up earlier then I'm very happy to bring the start forwards (sorry, we cant start any later in the year because we need to get the sessions finsished by mid March. Good to know there is demand for early morning sessions tho!).
