In the news today.... a swimmer (NB from Sunderland) demonstrated the ability to keep up a remarkable pace swimming in the sea  in Australia over quite a significant distance

Seems the key move for this guy was to be followed by a Tiger shark.

This might help to explain some of the swim times in Charles' Lofoten triathlon adventure with the Greenland sharks ...nothing like the risk of being eaten alive to focus the mind on good technique...certainly likely to prove more effective than pull buoys and Garmin watches ;-)
