Playlist inspiration needed for the dreaded turbo sessions

With temperatures hovering around the zero, my cycling moves into the dreaded boredom of the turbo trainer sessions. Adding insult to injury, my playlist is about as equally boring.

What do you folks listen to to keep you going at 80-90 RPM?

I’m not going to reveal my musical preferences here out of sheer embarrassment (I grew up in Germany in the 90) and love to explore something new.

The final compilation will be posted as the Windrush top cycling hits!

Many thanks!

Paul kalkbrenner. Start with Feed your Head. If you like it, keep going.

I do have generic cardio play list on spotify but it's eclectic (read: highly embarassing)

Thanks Rebecca, I’ll give Paul a go! I think all cardio playlists are a bit dodgy, but at least we can try : )

So... Here is my secret to running and cycling playlists... https://cycle.jog.fm/workout-songs/for/85/rpm

You can stipulate what pace/RPM you want to run/cycle at and the type of genre of music you like. You can choose from playlists already made or you can build your own!

Happy tune hunting!

Current favourites for gym Watt bike sessions

She knows - J Cole

Holler if ya here me - TuPac

What is residual cortical re-programming? Sounds like something out of Orwell's 1984.

Are you a DJ in your spare time Anne?

I think it's a bit more Anthony Burgess Clockwork Orange, I was worried about Gesine's exposure to 90's euro pop and hoping any damage is reversible.

And no not a DJ just listen to a lot of music (God bless Apple) at work while wading through NHS treacle but could be available for christenings, children's birthday parties etc

Happy to share my Spotify spin playlists, although not sure how I do that! They are a bit hit and miss!

Here's the best of 2017 cycling mixes from one of the spin coaches I follow on spotify (yes, welcome to my sad life!). Even if not to your musical taste, quite good in terms of motivation (yes, shoot me now, I found myself enjoying Ed Sheeran). Up to Selena Gomez are climbing songs (i.e. cadence of around 60-70), Shape of You onwards are flats (85-100) and then cool down at the end (let's just ignore the Harry Styles inclusion and move swiftly on!)

And then despite being a massive TrainerRoad fan, I'm not a big fan of their playlists, but they're put together specifically for riding to and might float others' boats - https://open.spotify.com/user/trainerroad

I'm trying out the rollers today, eek!

Thank you all for the great contributions!

I should finally reveal how my exposure to questionable euro pop has shaped my adult musical preferences, at least when it comes to cycling playlists. In no particular order, here are my top 14!

Stockholm syndrome - Muse

Hysteria - Muse

Uprising - Muse

Sonne - Rammstein

Engle - Rammstein

Overpowered - Roisin Murphy

Movie star - Roisin Murphy

River Lea - Adele

Green Hornet - Kill Bill 1

Maledito - Orange Blossom

Believe - Franka Potente

Ain't talking about love - Van Halen

Only happy when it rains - Garbage

Lucy, I hope you had a good survival rate on the rollers...
