Subject: Myofascial Release Study
To: tri-coaching@elitecycling.co.uk

Hi Audrey,

Hope you are keeping well?

We met at JAGS swimming pool on Friday last, I wanted to thank you again for your time at the poolside.

During our conversation I told you about this study that I am doing for my dissertation, which involves recruiting swimmers. You asked me to give you an email with the details of the study.

The first 6 weeks, involve participants being timed over 100m, this is get an average time to work off of. Weeks 7-12 will require each participant to receive a 50 min Myofascial Release session on their Neck and Shoulder Girdles prior to going for a timed swim. The times from weeks 7-12, when compared to the times from weeks 1-6 will hopefully show a decrease in times.

Myofascial Release is a technique whereby I manipulate the fascia, both the superficial and deep layers, by slowly allowing my hands make contact with the fascia and putting it on a slow, gentle stretch and then challenging it with soft compression and/or slight torquing. This allows restrictions in the fascia to be released.

The other participants in my study, have reduced their times, so far, from 4 secs up to 7 secs. They are also reporting better range of motion of the neck and shoulders, which they feel is also helping them to stay high in the water, lessened the drag. This I hadn't expected, as I was just focusing on reducing their times, but has come as a pleasant surprise!!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to get in contact, all my details are on the flyer. I would greatly appreciate if you took some time to let your clients know about my study.

Thank you for reading my email and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

All the best

Eoin

I saw Eoin for the initial assessment on Sunday. I thought he was professional and it will be an interesting study and it forms part of his final highest qualification. Although you need to wait some weeks for the massages, its an amazing deal as you only pay £15 for each one to cover his costs. All slots are Fri/Sat/Sun.

I will be doing the first timed swim at the Lido Saturday swim on 23 June, so if anyone has seen him before then it would be ideal to coordinate!
