I believe other clubs make us of it  but I'm not sure Windrush is very aware of the 3-lap RP challenge. It's basically a Strava segment beginning at Roehampton Gate and going anti-clockwise (otherwise Strava wouldn't twig it, and smoother at roundabouts).

I mention it now because Sam smashed the Windrush record this morning by 4 minutes and may not be aware of it. Anyway, maybe something to use as a training aid.

This should be the link to the Windie list, there is also an all-comers list somewhere:

Yep got stopped at the bottom of Broomfield hill early one morning.

A difficult job acting wide eyed and innocent when they reckoned I was doing twice the speed limit.

I told them I couldn't cycle that fast and said my name was Paul Connor - seemed to do the trick

Missed the hour again needless to say so thanks Paul

The boys KOM fell as recently as last Friday ... taking Strava at face value. It had stood for over three years ....

Probably best to not dwell on the ave and max.

On the link in the first message there's a Leaderboard nav to the left side.

I'd like to do this! I'm going to attempt this weekend. And then see how my time improves during, and at the end of, one of these 10 week plans: http://www.thesufferfest.com/training-plans/road-training-plans/ Yikes. Nothing like posting your times to make you train... :S

Agree with Charles you have to watch out for the police. They usually sit either to the South of Sheen Cross roundabout or at the bottom of Broomfield Hill!!

Be great to get a little unofficial TT going. I get there early doors - 6am - and I find this is the best time for both road a cycling traffic. Was great this morning hardly anyone on the road.

Will be doing this next week & will post on this thread, see if anyone else wants to join. We could start on handicap, makes it a bit more fun.

Left Brixton at 7.30 tonight and got back just before 10.00. Atm, it's still pretty light when the gates close so it's basically a closed road circuit with a slightly fading light and about as many grazing deer as cyclists. Totally fabulous.

Got dark between leaving the park and getting back. Can't wait to do it again. Just scraped into the top 20. Room for improvement.

It was a bit windy tonight but I gave it a good go. I hear David Miller did it under 45 minutes.

He did a lap in 13 minutes and the Bbc even filmed him doing it

Then someone pointed out this meant he was 10mph over the speed limit on average and the video came down. He said he didn't know the rules...

Yeah I past the cops 2 times tonight. Lucky it was when I was going up the hill both times.

Actually video report is still there

As welfare officer for the club I wouldn't recommend taking on this challenge unless you are a very experienced cyclist and used to travelling at high speeds .

Even if you are experienced please take it easy we don't want any crashes trying to beat strava ! Also I would imagine the club would not condone breaking the law in terms of speeding in a royal park .

Sorry to be a bore .

Cheers Jon

Yeah I was a bit worried about the public nature of this thread and condoning the speeding thing....

We shouldn't assume that the royal parks police are unaware of Strava. If they want to prosecute for speeding, you will have self-recorded the evidence they need and placed it on a public forum. Rather like the burglars who take selfies at the crime scene and put them on Facebook!

There are plenty of official time trials on public roads that Windrushers can take part in without going over the speed limit, so I recommend members sign up to those instead.
