Having just watched The Crown on Netflix over Christmas I seem to be drawn to Windsor as if by some mystical royal forcefield ... or maybe it is just the lure of the famous iced buns at the cafe!

Planning a steady ride to Windsor on Sunday, leaving the lido at 9am, going via Hampton Court, Virginia Water and Windsor Great Park, returning via Runnymede and Staines (circa 110km round trip). If anyone wants to bump up the mileage we could do a loop of the Windsor tri course when we get there, but this may be too much of a good thing in early January.

Let me know if you want to come along.

I'd be keen to join you - can I meet you at the cafe in RP as Brockwell is the wrong way for me? I guess you'll get there about 9:30?

Hmmm first Brexit, then fox hunting and now riding out to Windsor to see the Royal Family!

You read my mind! Was also planning a round trip this Sunday although I think my steady pace is a bit 'steadier' than yours, so happy to drop off/lead a slower group if needed.

I'll join, breaking off with Erika if there are two speeds

Also - how good is the Crown! Excellent tv choices

I'm not planning to have an audience with the Queen Tony!

Maybe you could take the bike with the pannier and being back some souvenir Royal Family crockery?

That Prince Harry has got a new girlfriend apparently - if you could get me a tea towel with her on it please ;-)

Ah Tony, a once great Republican and scourge of the privileged classes, now reduced to Prince Harry Girlfriend tea towels!

I'm up for this, thanks Charles. I'll also drop back if I can't keep up the pace.

Will try and meet you at the correct place this weekend too!

Charles

Have you got a garmin route for your ride?

I was thinking of leading a very steady,17/20kmh, ride for those that haven't attempted this sort of distance before.

Hi Ian, I've sent the route via Garmin Connect; you should get it by email. It includes the Windsor tri course loop, but if you set off from Windsor heading towards Staines (go past station heating east) you will pick up the route back via Staines and Chertsey.

We'll be averaging around 25kph so nothing too strenuous and judging by last weekend (when everyone was gunning it up the hills) you'll be fine Elly.
