Hey all, a group of us have decided to meet at the Milkwood pub in Herne Hill between 6-7pm. Hope you can join us! They do serve food although sometimes run out of things on a Sunday evening so get there soon if you are very peckish. See you there! x
....
Here's the event for our club barbecue this Sunday after the Crystal Palace Sprint tri - let us know you are coming so we can be mega excited! If you are racing, join us at the barbecue afterwards. If you are not racing, come and cheer us on and join us for burgers and beer! The juniors will be partying with us too! Friends and family are very welcome.
Thanks, Saffron (social sec) x
WHERE'S THE PARTY? The Windrush gazebo can be found next to the cycle track on so those of you spectating can cheer on the racers! Racers, when you finish, join the spectators to cheer on those still racing! Friends and family are all welcome.
WHAT ARE WE EATING? Bring burgers, sausages, bread, vegi burgers, sausages and halloumi (for me!), ketchup, mayo…you know the deal! It’s a barbecue! If everyone brings enough stuff for themselves, there will be plenty of food to go round. Feel free to get creative and bring salads, bake cakes, or anything you like (as long as it’s not poisonous).
WHAT ARE WE DRINKING? Bring any drinks you like – extra supplies can be purchased from Tesco on Anerley Road, about 10 minutes’ walk away
WHEN IS IT? Come down as soon as the race finishes (first finishers expected not much after 10am). Juniors will be racing after us, so there’s another great reason to stick around afterwards and cheer on the youngest members of our club! Last year we were there most of the day, then met at the pub afterwards.
WHERE IS IT? The Windrush gazebo will be pretty near the place where THIS map says ‘Crystal Palace Park’ – near the steps of the site of the old palace.
WHAT IF IT RAINS? We hide under the gazebo! If it gets really bad, we will decamp to the Milkwood pub opposite Herne Hill station – but this is unlikely!
WHAT DO I WEAR? Bring warm clothes to put on over your trisuit – no harm in bringing a showerproof layer too just in case…
WHAT DO I BRING? If you have room, picnic blankets are very welcome and anything which makes a barbecue fun, comfy and tasty!
See you there!

Hear hear! Yesterday made me feel proud to be a Windrusher. Doing triathlons is so much more fun when lots of your compadres are taking part, there is fantastic cheering during the race and a top notch BBQ afterwards. Thank you everyone for making this a special day, particularly Saffron and Laura (for organisational and gazebo-erecting skills respectively), Rory for barbecuing like a pro, Paul for supplying the actual BBQ, Tobias and Aurelia for fantastic cake, Raya for bringing super-cute Coco (miniature schnauzer) and all the Windrushers who joined together to make this a great day out.
Thanks for the thanks Windrushers, and for all the teamwork for the whole day and making it fun for everyone! Looking forward to the next event! x
Thanks you all!!! I have put my awesome prize next to my Nobel, Oscar and Pulitzer and still, My noodle pot feels a lot more special!
