Hi all,
I’m looking into options for training sessions from Jan until the timetable change over in March/April and want to get your feedback. Please post your preferences below if you think you would regularly attend the sessions.
Firstly for a new strength and conditioning session (see more below) at the Castle Leisure centre (on Elephant and Castle ‘roundabout’,SE1 6FG).
Options are either
I am also looking into possible alternatives for the Wed eve swim session. Attendance has been good recently so it may well stay as it is but I want to ensure we are meeting the needs of as many members as possible so could you let me know your preferences between:
Obviously there is some overlap between timings for the S&C and swim sessions, so please let me know if you would plan to attend both/your preference so I can take this into account reviewing the voting.
More on S&C:
Strength and conditioning sessions will include a range of:
- Mobility work
- Weights and body weight exercises (a range of weights will be available)
- Core and stabilising exercises
Regular strength and conditioning for triathletes can lead to increased performance through:
- Overcoming the risk of injuries caused by muscular imbalances combined with repetitive overuse
- Improved endurance through stronger muscles and ability to hold better form
- Improved efficiency through increased mobility, coordination, agility, strength, power, stability and balance
All of which will hopefully make you a fitter and faster triathlete.

If I can get up in time S&C - Option 1
If I get the time Swimming - Option 1
Good work Lucy!
Out of interest could we do the S&C sessions outdoors? I'm not sure if it would work but I go to a free class on Wednesdays at the Scoop, More London. They use the steps and street furniture for the exercises. Maybe we could do the same at Brockwell Park but on the Thursday morning at 7am? (8 is a little late for me unfortunately)
Awesome Lucy - super keen for S&C - for the injury prone!
Option one for Strength - 7-8am
and 1 for swimming.
S&C - 7-8am for me, I wouldn't be able to make anything later.
Swimming - I enjoy the Wednesday evening session, but would be happy to do the same thing on a Wed or Thu morning 7-8am. I would probably prioritise the swim over the S&C if they were on the same day.
Morning sessions also good as they free up evening time for other things (sorry, obviously I mean more training!).
S&C - Wed 7am-8am
swim 1
S&C 1
Hi Rory, ditto what laura said, plus for some exercises we'll need weights, plus early morning run sessions partly failed because of lack of somewhere to leave bags and shower after, maybe something to revisit in the summer, but better to use off season for heavier weights anyway.
thanks for all the other feedback, keep it coming!
S&C - option 1
Swim - option 3 or 2 (but if S&C is on at the same time, I'd do that over swim)
