So if you were thinking that you would like a ride to the triathlon on Saturday and can drive a manual car it may be your lucky day. I have hired car however last night my bag was stolen (why we go to the Prince Regent and not the Florence) with my drivers license in it. I am unlikely to be able to replace this before Saturday and so have a driver-less car up for grabs. It comes with a passenger (Laura) and room for your bike and stuff. I am more than happy to take the train down.
Hopefully this will work for someone.
Thank you for the Sussex tri course recce. Sounds like it is still a TT bike course, despite the hills?
It is a nice gesture to try to raise sponsorship to cover your helicopter rescue bill. We are incredibly lucky to have this service for free, no questions asked. If this were France or Switzerland you would have to produce insurance docs or a credit card before they would fly you off to hospital! As you say, it is in all our interests that the service continues. I will happily sponsor you.

Went down to check out the Sussex tri bike course today - well actually check that I could still manage to cycle 40k ;-)
Have to say it was a stunning course to look at - and the Christian retreat was also worth a visit. They told me they blessed the waters, so if we know the right prayers, it should be possible to walk on water during the swim leg.
The bike course is a bit hilly but nothing too fierce. Roads are quietish and most of the surfaces are very good. But there are a couple of places on mini descents where it would probably be ill advised to go into a full aero tuck on a time trial bike, as the surface is a bit broken up.
Lake looks superb but there is scope for them to add a couple of tasty looking hills onto the run course from looking around the beautiful landscaped gardens.
As some of you know, the last race I did in Sussex involved a trip in a helicopter to St Georges (which for some reason I don't remember much about). Having put myself through a pain barrier to train from Zimmerframe to Triathlon in five months ... I'm going to try to raise the funds to cover the cost of this flight.
Which apparently was £2500 when the cost of the Doctor, pilot and advanced paramedic is added to the helicopter fuel .....gulp.
Every donation helps - and to be honest as we all cycle in Kent, Surrey and Sussex we have a vested interest in keeping this service going - they are only funded by direct public donations.

And you can be very confident I will be suffering big time to try to finish this in a sensible time.
But it is great to be back able to swim bike run and to say arrivederci to that zimmerframe - hopefully for a few years yet...
Hi Russ, is the space still up for grabs in your car?
Otherwise, if anyone has capacity to transport a bike, but not the owner - I should be able to transport myself and kit down via another lift.
Hi, I'm going to drive down on Sat and have extra room for someone and a bike or tent/luggage.
Also, I'm up for that BBQ :)
Hi Gaizka,
What time were you thinking of leaving on Saturday? I could use a lift or bike transportation but am at a course on Saturday until 4pm (so thought maybe the train would work better timing wise)... let me know your plans. Happy to pay towards petrol!
Aine
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it :-) will travel to yours to head off. Have borrowed a small tent so hopefully I won't have toooooo much stuff. let me know timings when you do :-)

I am intending to drive down on Saturday late afternoon. Hayley has already blagged one car space, so I can take one other person and bike. I'm leaving from nunhead so be nice if people can get to a convenient place to be picked up. Ideally, my house!
It will be a tight fit in the car so suggest no super sized tents.
Hi Aine,
I see both Richard and you showed interest for the extra place. I'll be leaving at around four, and I live in Rotherhithe. But happy to meet in place convenient for both.
Extra point for paying towards petrol...
Please let me know if the plan suits any of you.
